Wev'e had a thread about the comparative strengths/weaknesses of the current heavyweights.
How would Tony TNT Tucker do against them?
I am referring to the "clean version",who beat men like
    Jimmy Young
    James Broad
    Buster Douglas
    Orlin Norris
    Oliver McCall
    Everett Martin

And went the route with Tyson and Lewis.

Tucker said he went into the Tyson fight with a broken hand, and his drug problems are well documented, for arguments sake, imagine he is clean and healthy for the contenders of today.

Not the 37 year old 20lbs overweight guy who lost to the likes of Bruce Seldon.Nor the 40 year old who bowed out to Ruiz.
Tucker was 6'' 5'' 220lbs ,had good skills, and decent power ,how does he do against the Eastern European heavies and Bros Grimm of 2010?

Tucker was a good fighter, one of the better skilled guys of the 80's. Big strong and mobile, spells doom for big, strong, slow, and immobile of today.

I think Tony survives the distance with they very best of today's heavyweights, and probably beats a few of the top 10.. Quality wise, I'd say he's probably on par with someone like an Eddie Chamber, but I can't give a truly accurate measure of where I'd place him... His size, chin, skills and athletic ability would make him a top player, but I fear that his non-aggressive style and tendency to just want to " hang in there" would prevent him from reaching the summit of the mountain.

**** the "Clean" ****...... Lotsa' ex-fighters have used and abused drugs and alcohol as well as chased ***** galore in their primes, etc.... It only takes THREE days to pass a **** test for Coke, so if you fail your test going into a fight then you are just basically ****in' up...........

Hell, Tony Tucker said he'd party here and there, but he wasn't a full blown junkie like a bum on Skid Row or something.... Same for Tony Tubbs, Tyrell Biggs and Tim Witherspoon as well.....

Now... Michael Dokes and even Pinklon Thomas took things to higher levels, but neither guy ever failed a pre-fight drug or post-fight test that I know of.......

Being totally clean is rare in today's society...... Everybody basically has a fondness or addiction to something harmful, if abused..... Such as: "Coffee, Cigs, Ding Dong's, Big Mac's, Weed, Coke, Pills, Poontang and watching too much Soap Opera TV........ Its all bad if abused........

Hell, even the old-time fighters from the golden days of sports and Hollywood loved their booze, smokes, T-Bone Steaks and broads around town....... More abuse........

NOW!!! Tony Tucker was a good but not great heavyweight... He had skills and decent power, but he struggled on the world class level, as did several name fighters did in the 80s and 90s, etc......... Tucker looked awesome when pitted with "C & B" fighters, but he looked average when he messed with the "A" Team......... Tucker was merely good as a fighter...........

Tucker finished with a record of 66 fights, 58 wins, 48 kos,7 losses,of these, five of them came after he was 37 years old
.Prior to that he only lost to Tyson and Lewis,he was 35 when he was beaten by Lewis, but still went the distance.
I dont think he struggled on a world class level at all.
I would only pick the Klits to beat him ,out of today's crop.

Tony Tucker had a "Padded" record going into his 1993 title fight with Lenny Lewis....... Sure, Tucker had an impressive record on paper, but when you look closely you'll see that Tucker had wins over "Jimmy Young, Kimm Odum, Buster Douglas, Everett Martin and Ollie McCall." Not bad, but that's only "5" fights outta the entire lot of roughly 50 fights by 1993........ Oddly, Tony Tucker's competition increased with age....... Tucker fought his better name oppoents when he was above age 35..... And note, he lost to them guys too...... Tucker was a struggler..........

Tucker was 35 ,and on the slide, when he fought Lewis.
If you think Tucker's record is padded you want to look at some of those occupying the top ten today.
    We disagree on this.

Look...... If Tucker was age 33 / 34 like he was in 1993, yes, he'd be top-10 today; not champion...... Tucker cannot beat either "K" brother and I doubt he'd catch the savy Dave Haye...... Contender? YES! Champ? NO!!

I would say--YES! V.K. is up there in age and a legit title holder who hasn't suffered as many (None) ugly losses in his advanced yrs as did Tucker..... Christ, Tucker lost to "Orlin Norris & Herbert Hide" for Christ sake........ Also, I cannot recall Tucker ever looking like The Blob for a fight; he had good genetics....... Tucker was TKO'd by Ruiz in 1998 when he was age 39........ Tucker was a good fighter; never great........

Yeah but Tucker had a lot of fights. What kind of condition would Vitali be in with 55 fights? Your right Tucker wasnt great, but either is Vitali. Their competition is pretty close.

Well... IMO, boxing history books will be kinder more so to V.K. than it ever will be to Tucker...... I think we ALL need to face that fact......... And no, white or black is NOT an issue here or there....... V.K. has simply been managed much better than Tucker was.......:yep

They will be because he stands out as the dominant champion of this era.

An era that only requires Tony Tucker level skills to dominate.:yep
