A little over critical there killer. I never once implied that if I wasn't a little tired before starting the sparring, that I would've done better. I never once implied that if any part of that day was different, that I would've kicked his ass. Fun fact, he is A local amateur title holder in his division, and is undefeated so far, so yea, he is a little good. But, you are correct, I shouldn't be using the philly shell, I just enjoy it, because once I get tired, it's easier for me to use as some sort of defense, rather than properly covering up. I have trained for years, but have no legit record, merely gym/sparring experience. This was not my first sparring session. It's painfully obvious, I have much work to do. Just happy I started getting motivated about actually boxing again, and will use this video of me getting my ass handed to me as extra motivation, as well as people's criticism.
He fights in mma amateur fights, but obviously trains pretty hard, strictly boxing. But unless he is getting training from any of the pro boxers, he likes to spar otherwise without shoes.
I ****ing hate watching MMA fighters spar without headgear. Tis stupid, just sayin. Also, I hate watching amateur southpaws practice the shoulder roll. Please tell me you were only doing that because he's a southpaw? PS You have to hit him a little harder than that to keep him off you. Not like he's hard to find or anything...Start backing him up and watch the magic happen
Yea, next time I post a video hopefully I will have fully gotten rid of my bad habit of attempting imitating my garbage shoulder roll.
Lol don't worry about people busting your chops, you get the thumbs up from me just by posting up a real video of you. Just keep practicing, it doesn't come overnight
Agree. 7/8 of the video you are on the ropes. I think its pretty hard to do anything significant giving up that ground.
It's not that you're bad at the shoulder roll, it's just that as a southpaw you'll find that technique totally useless in a fight with an orthodox fighter.
If you mean in general, I guess it depends on the style of the orthodox fighter, I would like be able to properly employ any style of guard, depending on how I adjust to a opponent. But if you mean like against my boy I fought in the video, he is a southpaw as well.
No, I mean in general. A shoulder roll is impractical against a fighter who isn't in the same stance as you.
Not getting at you personally bro just everyone who uploads a video says this. Yeah I mean keep at it. Always good to spar with someone better than you but can still take it easy on you perfect partner. Try throwing some headshots and just practice moving your head. Good luck bro you'll figure it out.
