A comeback KO win would have cemented Lomachenko as a bonafide star

In rd one, both fighters seemed very tentative. Lomachenko wasting no energy threw only one of his 3 punch combos....Still, he was the smaller man backing the bigger man down for 3 minutes.
Rds 2-4 saw Salido throwing shots under the elbows of Loma, and also under the beltline, even on the hip. Loma was lost trying to deal with the low blows and resorted to holding to take the edge of the body and nutsack attack.
Salido took rd 5 off, but Loma was still tentative, fearing a good or bad body shot. Still his rd though.
Rd 6-7 were very close to even. Loma throwing the cleaner shots, having the better defense and better ring generalship, but Salido throwing the more effective punches, below and above the border. Close rds, Loma fans and purists giving the rds to Loma, HATERZ INC and Salido fans(?) giving them to Salido.

Rds 8-10 saw more of the same, but much more effective fouling and body work for Salido. Loma was giving it a go, and Salido was fading...how the smaller guy wore the old vet down is beyond me, I figured it would have been wholly opposite....but Loma won another rd late in the 10th and brought the scores together.

The 11th and 12th, the championships rds, saw Loma trying to win. He was taking low blows and still trying to fight thru them. He obviously threw the cleaner more effective shots as Salido appeared hurt by many of the punches Loma connected with. 11th was a close Loma rd and the 12th, IMO, evened the score. 6 rds to 6.....a draw.

But had Loma been able to make a complete comeback......and stop the warhorse who is Salido after taking maybe 100 low blows, and at least 50 clean body shots.....had Loma KOd Salido right there..........HISTORY would have been rewritten.

Headlines across boxing boards and sports pages would have read, Beauty KOs the beast in war of attrition. Vasyl Lomachenko.... A star is born.:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup

On a side note....Lomachenko DOMINATED the 12th....I scored it 10-8 b/c Salido was in survival mode throughout.

114-113 Vasyl Lomachenko....the new WBO FW Champion of the World.:deal:deal:deal

It was what it was. Lomo showed he belongs at that level, but also that he needs more transitioning. Rough stuff aside, he didn't let his hands go enough and needs to develop more into a finisher. He has all the tools, but this fight proves you still need experience as a pro to use them as a pro.

I think its good he lost, he needs time to develop at this level and Salido regardless of weight proved that

I like Loma but i think he needs 5 or 6 fights against fringe world level opposition before going back for another shot. he can hold his head high though for his second pro fight the kid done good

Salido is pretty much a washed up fighter and was gassed the last few rounds, but Loma still couldn't finish him off. smh

A comeback KO for many fighters who are in a title fight would make them bonafide stars.

The only thing Loma showed last night is with the style he employs, I don't see him being a P4P stalwart anytime soon.

he doesn't do anything exceptional in the ring, and when you're a pro fighter with P4P aspirations, you have to be superlative in at least 1 specific area.

It's funny some people thought he'd be successful against Mikey Garcia. Mikey would probably knock him out inside of 9 or 10 rounds.

Let's see how Loma evolves in his next 15-20 fights. He's obviously not on the level of other recently great amateurs like Rigo or GGG.

    Destroyed?

There was one guy on the verge of being knocked out and thankful it wasn't a 15 rounder, and it wasn't Loma.

Only his second pro fight and he not only goes the distance, but Salido is holding on for dear life in rds 11 & 12.

Many of you were spotting "Loma needs to take him out early, its his only chance as Salido gets stronger as the fight wears on".. Priceless stuff:rofl:nut:rofl:deal
