This thread isn't about the fight, but about the behaviour shown by both fighters afterwards. Perhaps I am the only one, but Lamon and Wlad impressed me with their post-fight interviews (Go Larry Merchant!!). No excuses, no trash talk, no bragging -- kind of refreshing. I was becoming quite concerned for Brewster and am glad that he appeared to be swollen, yet otherwise unhurt. Both fighters conducted themselves as gentlemen -- a credit to boxing. (Can't imagine either guy ever saying he wants to "eat the other guys children"). Any other input on this -- is this what real boxing fans want? :deal Markus
Boxing is also entertainment. Tyson eatling Lewis's children and F'ing white boys asses is also pretty entertaining!:nut
I'm with you Markus. Wald and Lamon in Brewsters changing room after the fight chatting and obviously having a good time together was a classic scene, did you see that?
Right on the mark. Although, I didn't hear all that was said because of a German translator! Lamon took the dfeat as a man and Wladimir is always a perfect gentleman in the interviews.
Another thing that was quite refreshing and full of class was the way the German crowd treated the national anthem. In the last few fights I have watched that were overseas (the Calzaghe - Manfredo & the Wlad - Austin fight), the crowds reacted in a horrible way to the Star Spangled Banner. It was a disgrace and we all chatted about it at length on here. But tonight, they were very quiet until the end, when what seemed like the majority of them stood and cheered. It was a very classy display and I am quite sure I was not the only one who appreciated it. The German fans deserve a standing ovation as much as Wlad did (they were great during the fight also...cheering and OOOOOing with every hit and miss). Just a great crowd.
I fully agree regarding the crowd -- it's embarrassing when people boo a national anthem at a match (boxing is not the WWE). Alas, I missed Wlad & Brewster "hanging out" after the match -- too bad, I don't think TSN in canada showed this (or I missed it). It's refreshing to see people being themselves, without having to put on a fake persona. Tyson's outrageous behaviour is part of what killed him, especially once he wasn't the feared beast of his prime. I think too many people are looking for MMA & WWE like personalities in boxing. I prefer fighters that let their skills do most (not all) of the talking. Yeah, Ali talked, but he could usually back it up. Markus
