For fighters. I hit the gym with my mate. I wrapped my hands. I put the gloves on, and jimmy waved me in. "right, listen avid, I want you to follow my instructions. I will call what shot I want you to throw and how many I want, and I will mix it up. You ready?" "yeah, let's go!" What followed was 10 3 minute round of hitting the pads and working the bag. Hooks, uppercuts (10 in a row at one point!), and jabs! Oh the ****ing jabs! My left arm feels like it has frigged off 5 sex starved ***** cat dolls! My fitness held up far better than expected, and I only started gassing a bit once I'd thrown 2 sets of separate uppercuts. I've lost 1 and a half stone in the last two months, so I think this helped with stamina, but avid is still about three quarters of a stone off a good fighting weight. Plus I still enjoy the odd crafty smoke. The point of this thread though is that your average guy has to dig deep on the pads and bags, without anyone throwing any shots back at you. I have a greater understanding and appreciation of what a boxer goes through. My eyes have been opened. I absolutely loved it today, and will be going weekly from now on. I ****ing love watching boxing, i will be a participant from this point onwards, and I would encourage anyone else to do it. I will think twice about kicking off at a fighter for taking a breather!! Boxing, I love it!
Cheers mate. Been threatening to do it for a while. Think I ****ed up the wraps a little bit, got pretty bad grazed knuckles! Not sure they're gonna like that at work!
Fair play Chris. Are you looking to go into boxing then, or is it a new weight loss scheme? My grandad had a punch bag and speed bag/ball. When I tried it it absolutely killed me, and I was only on it about 15 minutes Seriously couldn't get to grips with the speedbag tho, had no rhythm whatsoever
To be honest at the moment I'm just looking to maintain and improve fitness. I'm pushing 30 now so not sure I want to start getting smacked about, but who knows!! :good Been hammering the jd in the big smoke then?
