A day when I gained more respect

Good post/thread..........i always wonder as to who has or hasnt boxed previously or is/has been involved etc and how there thoughts and opinions may/do differ.

Of course people can have an opinion but yeah......i often wonder.

I done alright tho, started with a $100 and ended with 425 so cnt complain. Rolling in at half 4 with a greasy burger, some hooker flyers and a rap CD which I bought off a random black guy all points to a good night

Got burnt to **** yesterday, skipped dinner and got smashed on JD. Seriously suffering today which is why I haven't left the room yet LA was a strange city, couldn't quiet figure out if I liked it or not. And Vegas is just Vegas! San Francisco next!

When you walk in you can smell the sweat, hear the skipping ropes hit off the floor gradually getting into a rhythmic sound, the sight of punchbag's going back and forth and side to side. Look up into ring as see two guys landing leather on each other. Blood stains around the gym. On shorts and tops and on canvas.

You walk in thinking you can reel back the years and within one minute you soon feel like your 11 again. The ropes hitting your toes, the bag doesn't move, punches don't feel right. You can't land 4 punch rapid combo's on heavybag without needing to stop drop hands and suck some air in. No matter how much you try to do a Carl Froch your kidding no one. You go onto pads, your big moment to show your skills and first jab falls short.

Then the trainers ups the work rate as the round goes on. Some punches land and some cuff the pads. Then your trying to look out of corner of eye to see time and then you hear the whole gym speed up with 10 seconds to go and trainer demands 10 punches flat out. The last 3 seconds are murder....your muscles crying, mouth gasping for h20....then you think to self ''Don't think i could do this for a living''......

Put's how hard this sport is and how good pro's are into perspective.

 

they didnt do night tours when i was there but mate has been and said its **** scary:yep

 

with the night tour you cant go in the prison exercise yard which i think is a shame as i did the day tour and enjoyed it.

i started up myself a couple of months ago the training is a killer but I just love it, hate doing circuits at the end of sessions though when yr getting bollocked into doing push ups after just doing 2 hrs of punching you just feel like dying lol!!

 

Did a bit when I was a young teen, started up again 6 months ago doing an hour and a half on tuesdays and thursdays.

I love it.

(I'm 28 next month, for the record, so a bit late for being too serious about it)
