A Decade ago this month Trinidad and Vargas waged an Unforgettable war

that was a war.

that fight had it all. they should both go into the HOF for that fight alone.

 

Great fight.

 

Tito's my favourite fighter ever and this fight is just unforgettable.

In retrospect, it would've been better for Vargas' career if he had been stopped in the first, instead of taking that tremendous beating down the stretch. His heart amazed me that night though - the fact he managed to get right back into the fight during the middle rounds was incredible.

The main thing I remember is the first knockdown of the 12th round. Tito lands a perfect left-hook right on Vargas' chin - Nando's head shakes from side to side and his eyes roll into the back of his head. The camera pans to Tito, who has jumped onto the ropes to celebrate. I was celebrating too because I knew the fight was over ... except the camera goes back to Vargas and the crazy ******* is on his feet taking a standing 8 count!

The fight was as-good-as over and Tito finished him like he usually did but the determination Vargas showed by getting up from that punch (after already taking a beating) was unreal.

 

Damn Vargas was young and had heart like a lion! Classic fight.

 

This was truly a modern epic, I have enormous respect for the performances of both men.

 

I love this fight and Trinidad is one of my fav fighters. Both fighters would go out on their shields at all costs so when you have big hearts like that it's bound to be a war sometime. I'll never know how Vargas got up from those brutal left hooks or how he even made it to the 12th but he did and had his moments in the mid rounds.

Tito was a puto for low blowing Vargas whenever he gets hurt. High lvl cheating at its best

 

damn never noticed Vargas's head movement after round 1 was so clean.

 

I actually remember i thought the fight was gonna end that quickly but young vargas held his own until the beating started coming again what a fight

 

Great fight, i loved the flow of the fight. Vargas, after getting hurt and dropped twice in the first makes an adjustment and starts winning some rounds. Tito then makes his own adjustment which was a deadly accurate right cross and takes the fight out of Vargas in rounds 9,10 and 11.

 

The only adjustment Tito did was when he got hurt and knockdown, he started hitting Vargas in the balls to recover :bbb
