2000 - 2010 was horrendous, even the end of Lewis' reign cannot make up for that or Haye entering the division at the end of that era. Everything inbetween just generated such little interest. Unfortunately Vitali was retired for a large chunk of it and Wladimir's title reign has not exactly caught the imagination.

2010 - present is looking a little bit better, Wladimir's reign still fails to capture the imagination to anyone living outside Germany. Vitali or his team are refusing to take on by far the biggest challenge to them since Lewis, thus making them massive hypocrites. The contenders are perhaps improving in quality a bit but none of them seem interested in fighting each other, hence you cant rate this era as much better than flat out bad.

 

Prolly because he wasn't a ***** who avoided anybody or everybody.

The biggest problem with the hw division today is that the 2 men on top aren't big attractions outside of Germany and Ukraini and there isn't that much money in the division anymore.

More money > more fighters > more competition/talent.

You can say what you want about Don King, but he brought money and a lot of good fights.
