what we need is for DLH,Hopkins,Jones,Holy,Tito,Toney,Barrera,Morales to retire and let the new generation take centre stage.
Tito is not as good as De La Hoya and I don't care what anyone says. De La Hoya would definatly be Cotto's toughest challenge yet. Margarito will be the hardest challenge until De La Hoya. I just wanted to make that clear it's no sure thing that Cotto gets to fight DLH
Some of them I agree like Morales is shot he should no longer be getting title shots which im sure he will get agian even after 4 straight losses when he comes back. Toney is still fat and proved agianst Peter and Batchelder his time has passed. Barrera can still go but theres nothing really for him to prove. Tito he can still go but he has no interest in dropping 10 pounds and becoming a serious contender agian. Holyfields 45 its just time to go before he gets hurt. Jones probablly has 1-2 fights left same with Hopkins and DLH plus all 3 guys can still fight at a decent level.
Well, the idea of him vs. winner of Cotto/Marg is a much better fight than the winner vs. Clottey and Zab. Either Cotto or Marg against Hoya is a war in the making for sure.
I agree Cotto and Margarito would make for a execellent fight for DLH maybe on the level of a Vargas-DLH fight which was great.
I think a Clottey-Cotto fight would be fun to watch. Cotto-Williams would be a tough pick. Cotto-DLH has only one ending in my eyes, and that is Cotto late rounds stoppage. DLH only looks good against the Mayorga types. A past his best days beaten thrice type of opponent. Forbes proved that even a smidgen of ability will do wonders against this DLH. Mayweather did jack **** but sit on the ropes and he still beat DLH. Fact is for a very long time now half of the best fighters between 140-154 have been avoided. DLH is part of that reason. When guys like him go away there will be no other choice but to fight the guys who have for so long been fighting in his shadow.
DelaHoya needs to pass his torch to someone, and as much as I want Cotto to lose against Margo, I rather it be him than no one else.
It would be a slap in the face for Margarito if De La Hoya were to fight Cotto after he had just beat him.
