I just woke up so I'm still a bit cloudy but I was wondering about all this talk about the Hamden/Soliman II bout falling through.

Do you think if a promoter put on a card showcasing some of the more decent domestic fights in Aus people would go for it?

    Say for a $60 PPV..

    Soliman vs Hamden
    Hoppa vs Leapi
    Zappa vs Kickett or Dib
    Sherrington vs Pittman II

    (what other fights?)

I don't know the in's and out's of putting on a card but it sounds like PPV won't go for hamden/soliman, and niether will the two guys becauuse of the money. But if you put 4 or 5 solid fights on the card and charged a bit more for the PPV do you think it would sell + give the fighters a decent paycheck.

Putting a few fights on a card which might headline a friday night fights card on any night could make it worth wild for everyone?

Dreaming or could it be possible with a dickload of organising?

I'd buy it for $50, but would still pay $60 if it meant supporting the aus boxing scene.

    Thoughts?

I'd pay $20. Go as high as $25.

It sounds like a good looking card but $60? No thanks lol! Try and $29.95 for a card like that.

No, PPV is bull****, how many other sports to you need to pay just to watch it live on TV.

If they are going to pump out plenty of domestic PPVs they need to be bargains like $12.95, there's no reason why we should have to pay per fight, or even card. Have you seen some of the crap on the sports channels? It's repeated incessantly, but with PPV you're luck to get more than a couple of days, it's a rort.
On the other hand you can pay for all the fights over a year and not get one cent discount. The way it is all set up is just wrong.

Unless you're a pub or club...then you can buy a yearly package.

So if it were cheaper, say $25 would it sell? And do you think it would generate enough money to cover costs and give the fighters a decent pay day?

I only said $60 because I thought the costs involved would be to hard to cover otherwise.

I know PPV is ****ed, but no mainstream channels are picking boxing up in a hurry. 10 came close I guess but ****wit wrecked that one.

Would atleast give some exposure to our domestic scene which might make it more appealing for mainstream FTA channels to get involved.

Well it was just a thought..

I have never heard of residential subscribers buying a yearly package before.

No, only pubs or clubs can buy a yearly package.

They offer yearly deals for commercial venues but not the average punter, and doubt they would even consider it.

I wouldn't pay 60, thats a bit steep, but for a decent card with good match ups ( hard to find on aus cards unfortunatley ) i would definately go for 20 or 30, depending on what we got for our money.

oh, and the saying is worth while, heh ;)
