Saddler is one of the few feathers I would pick over The Thin Man . Great matchup, great fight!

This is the kind of fight in which the referee would make a big difference.

Is Saddler going to be allowed to seize an arm and fire with the other?

He also holds the natural advantage of this being his principle weight. Or is this a catch-weight? Alexis spit more venom at 130lbs.

What a matchup! If you forget one Willy Pep you could even make this bout for the all time greatest featherweight champ. Alex showed the metal he had in his chin standing up to the power of Olivares and Pryor but I'm not as sure Sandy could handle the one punch power of Alex. I think it goes the distance with Sandy hitting the deck and Alex winning going away.

This would be a war...and I've gone back and forth on who I think might take it. Saddler's physicality/grappling present trouble for Arguello...Saddler had power and a viciousness in the ring...Given that these days I lean towards Arguello coming from behind and winning. Arguello had the ability and mainly durability to withstand Saddler. Arguello's power would make an impression on Saddler eventually and Saddler would either have to back off and lose a decision...or continue fighting, and maybe get stopped. In the past, I've picked Saddler...now it's Arguello for me.

    Strength & Punch wins it.

though that, I believe is 'split'... strength Arguello, punch Sadler. I'm leaning a bit on Strength here!

tough fight I lean towards the old timers but Alex may nullify Sandy's normal advantages to take this but Sandy was rugged, they could split a few

Arguello beats Saddler more often in 1950 than Saddler beats him in in '77.

I'd pick Saddler. He was tough, active, skilled and has an amazing Ko record. Arguello would have to pull off one of his best boxing performances to win.
