A drill for developing power on the heavybag

    In his book How To Box, Joe Louis explains a technique for hitting the bag:

    "'Try giving it a slight push to start it slowly swinging. Then when it has started to swing away, hook sharply with the left or right in the direction of the swing of the bag. This is good practice as it accustoms you to hitting the side of an opponent who turns from a blow."

    This is really good for developing power by getting comfortable with weight shift and alternating power hooks. Doing so for 30 seconds after a round on the bag is good. I've found this to be helpful, and hopefully someone out there finds it helpful too!
