Good observation from the writer. http://sportales.com/sports/mosley-mayweather-early-circumspection/ "In terms of pure boxing skills, Floyd has the skill set to do what Winky Wright did twice to Mosley. The big question is, can Floyd do it having a lesser reach and generally being smaller than Shane. It is worth noting that Shane has faced strong guys at junior middleweight and performed reasonably well, with the exception of the two Wright fights. He has knocked out Vargas twice and Mayorga, thus if we go by their respective résumés Shane has continuously faced opponents as high as junior middleweight while Floyd has lately picked lighter weight guys to come up to welterweight. Mosley does not really bully his opponents but one has to consider he would use that tack given his distinct edge in strength, something that would surely not be lost on his grizzled trainer Nazim Richardson. Aside from the first Castillo fight which many thought he lost, Floyd has not really been pressured and bulled by a strong opponent. Ricky Hatton tried but he did not have the upper body strength to be effective, understandable since he was a natural junior welterweight after all. Floyd may be quicker and have better boxing skills than Mosley, but if Shane fights him with physicality, the advantages that Floyd enjoys may all go out the This content is protected . If that happens he will have to stand his ground and exchange with Shane at some point or another, and with Shanes fight-ending power Floyd may have finally bitten off more than he can chew."
Mosley needs to apply alot of pressure and dig relentlessly to the body. I'm rooting for Mosley, but imo I dont believe even the Mosley of 4 years ago who beat Fernando Vargas was capabable of doing that to a slick defensive fighter. The Mosley who was fresh out of lightweight and who fought DLH 10 years ago I believe you'd have to go that far back to find a 147 lbs Mosley capable with his quickness, speed and endurance to be able to implement that pressure type of plan against someone the caliber of Mayweather. I just dont give Mosley much of a chance today, but I'm rooting for him...... .....in fact, I'm rooting against both what would have been the participants of the richest fight in boxing history! Go Mosley and go Clottey! Would'nt that be something, both those clowns with egg on their faces???:yep
Mosley doesn't have those advantages either. Mayweather has a 26" reach from armpit to fist (meaning, the measurement that matters for punching, not wingspan) while Mosley has a 25" reach by the same measure. Feel free to check the tale of the tape ahead of the Judah and Collazo fights for the measurements. Of course this assumes that you think that an inch this way or that matters in the least. An inch either way is hardly a significant advantage and Mayweather has fought guys who have a reach that is very close to his including the ones the poster above mentioned.
But it would happen, eventually. Even if Mayweather loses, he would still be in contention to fight Pac. Clottey would be very live dog against Pac, IMO. As for the Mosley-Mayweather, I just hope Sugar will impose his physical advantages over Floyd. That is the only it would be competitive.
This will be a close fight for a few rounds. After Mosley finds a rhythm, the hellish pressure applied to Floyd will be unlike anything Floyd has ever imagined. This will be an epic beatdown of the likes none of us have witnessed in a boxing ring. Mosley will stop Mayweather in the final minute of round12
Also, not a good article. It fails to highlight the fact that Mosley is at his best right now. It also fails to mention that Mosley has challenged himself in every single fight. Wheras Floyd hasnt challenged himself in years. Now the time has come for Floyd to learn how to lose. Mosley on May 1st will teach him. Bet the farm kids.
I think Mosley already won the fight mentally. Tyson intimidated people and fraud was pushed in the corner to sign. He wont perform the same when his balls start swearing in the middle of the ring
Meh, sounds like the beakdown of one of you ESB know-nothing ****s. I'd like to see a real technical breakdown of the fight instead of the usual, "Oh Shane is bigger and stronger and needs to apply pressure," theme.
