Firstly I'm absolutely gutted for Price not only the loss but I just found out it was his 30th birthday today.

I was was never on the Price bandwagon but was/am still very supportive of him. The first time I heard about the first Thompson fight I had honestly only seen Tony a couple of times, I went on the tube and came across the first Wlad fight I was amazed by the effort and heart he showed in that fight and couldn't understand how people rate Haye as having the best chance vs Wlad... Even today :-(

I waited until the weigh in before making my official prediction, Thompson came in heavy and looked done, I picked a Price UD.
(Had shown power but incomparable to Wlad who was nearly taken the distance)

After the first result I was shocked, not only by the result but by the lack of movement from Price or use of the jab, Tony came to Price's back yard and proved he still had fight in him.

When I heard Pricey was rematching Thompson I was literally shook, I thought he would have at least two more domestic level bouts (Rogan, Sprott, Firtha) to help rebuild and gain confidence.

Moving on to today's fight I was really backing Price to do the business (Being a fellow countryman) until...
The f##n national anthem again when those scousers started booing again, that really pissed me off.

As it started Price looked stiff and scared as anything which is obviously understandable knowing what "happened" happened, but there was still no jab or movement, from then on I knew it was over. Round two started and Price rocked Thompson with a big right, I was thinking "Please be patient and loosen up" as he still looked stiff and sluggish as anything, obviously he does the complete oppisite and goes all out throwing bombs and eventually puts the tiger on the canvas.

I heard everyone around me saying "He's not getting up from that" but I knew he would no matter how out of it he looked, As it carried on I was still shocked by how Price was fighting and couldn't believe how easy to hit he was, it was only a matter of time.

In to the fifth and Price's was taking a beating, he had no clue how to deal with pressure and and looked out on his feet, as he was backed in to the corner I was waiting for the ref to put a stop to it... NO, the ref gives him a standing eight, luckily he stopped it before it could have got brutal.

My honest opinion on this is that it was for the best, if Tony had not made the count in the 2nd round the would have put him in with Chisora next.
I don't give a s##t what Chisora's done outside the ring, he is a bull with a killer instinct a would have murdered Price.

Price can stay or go with pride and my respect, going out with an Olympic bronze, gold com and British champion is something only a great athlete can achieve. Also massive respect to Thompson as well for not only getting the W but to take the rematch in Price's yard again (I know there is money involved but still)

Thanks to anyone who actually read this. ;)

Fair assessment, although I think Price turned his back and quit, more because he was tired than because he was hurt.

Not Price's fault he was overhyped and not properly developed -- by his trainers, manager or promoter. Hopefully he gets out with some coin in his pocket rather than hanging around to get seriously hurt. He just doesn't have it.

Completely understandable, good to see other people having respect for both fighters under these circumstances.

By the sounds of it, it took more than one punch to stop Price this time?

Price brought this on himself, he gassed after round 3 FFS

In a professional boxing world you need to train for 12 rounds.
    Price obviously did not.

Why are british fans such loud, moronic, drunk, low-IQ morons? I feel bad for the intelligent and articulate fans who reside on the isle because your drunken masses make you all look bad. It's as if your country is still enduring a hangover from when the "sun didn't set upon the british empire". Your common man needs to stop with the overly nationalistic schtick as it's getting embarrassing.

To be honest Tyson Fury could beat both of these clowns on the same night. Fury vs Price that is a 2 rd fight before Fury sparks him. Thompson would get schooled like Kevin Johnson did

Same here, I like Haye and Fury, but most of the British fans are obnoxious. I thought Americans were bad, but Brits take the cake. I think c0ckiness is in their DNA.

about sums up the fight, I too don't understand why Price didn't take a tune-up before rematching Tony, but I guess he wanted to show the boxing world that he can, there's no shame in that, he just bit off more than he can chew

I feel a bit like the op (except for the Chisora part, Thompson > Chisora).

    1) Price moves well on his feet for a guy as big as he is, but he looked surprisingly raw to me. He didn't seem to know how to set up shots with his jab or maybe he didn't have any confidence in his left.

    2) He looked extremely nervous throughout, even when he was on the front foot. The guy needs more fights to build confidence in himself. He needs to know he can get out of rough moments against lesser fighters than Thompson.

    3) Price did not seem to know how to clinch. Even though he was much bigger and probably stronger, he didn't seem to tie up Thompson and thus kept getting hit in close which was a big part of his undoing. Put your damn weight on the guy and move him back so he can't hit you for christs sake.

A lot will be said about his punch resistance (and it isn't great) but if he knew the basics I don't think it has to be that big a factor: Price moves well, has the power to deter opponents and pretty fast hands. If he believed in himself and could jab and clinch he maybe wouldn't need to worry that much about his whiskers. He should probably have had 20 pro fights before going in with a guy as good as Thompson.
