Firstly his reach - 76 inches according to boxrec. More than most cruiserweights let alone light-heavys and super-middleweights. His jab is actually a serious weapon - having a similar effect to Wlad's at times. Secondly - I don't think I've seen him struggling in his fights. It's either been 50/50 or him dominating. I remember Adamu being close for the first half. Howabout his amateur career. He won a bronze in the World Ams when Haye won silver, how did Froch do as an amateur? Anybody know any clips of him in with a slickster? I remember seeing both Froch & Haye early in their pro career - both with left hands ridiculously low. Fair play, they've both had world belts now.
Froch wont have a long reign. He`ll be involved in the 168 merrygoround as a viable belt holder but nothing more. His style is too flawed his defence too porous and Kessler Taylor and Bute all have the beating of him as he just doesnt throw enough leather nor does he adjust or cover his chin in a fight. The best fight that could be made at 68 for entertainment value though is Andrade vs Froch. What a war!!!!!!
Right now I would rate Froch above Zuniga/Miranda, but below Bika/Andrade. In addition, styles make fights, and as soon as Carl runs into a heavy handed fighter with decent fundamentals he will lose badly; probably by KO or TKO. As soon as he runs into someone with really fast hands and feet, he will get clowned.
I've been a believer and fan of Carl Froch for years now, so I wouldn't expect anyone to consider my opinion objective, but I'll offer it anyway and face the consequences. If Carl uses all his attributes as best as he can, he would be a ****ing nightmare for Joe Calzaghe. The Calzaghe camp know this.
As a hard core Calzaghe hater, let me play devil's advocate. Joe would run circles around Froch. This would be Calzaghe/Lacy II. Carl is just to slow and wide open. Slappy Joe would blister and move all night long. Froch would have trouble landing a single flush punch.
How do you know they know? Maybe they just think - as many boxfans do - that Carl Froch simply sux:yep He has a few things going for him. Mentality, chin, punch. But i wouldnt be surprised if someone like Andrade or Bika would beat him. As exciting as his fight against Pascal was, they both didnt look like worldbeaters in my book.
Got to be kidding me Froch is class above Bika/Andrade. Are you telling me Bika would be Pascal? Come on.
Frochs win over pascal is getting over-rated now . Yes it was a very good fight but they are not great fighters. Pascal is being made out to be a world class opponent who has he beat beforwe the froch fight this is the same guy marinda turned a fight down because he looked so bad. I would wait until froch v taylor is done before people begin to say froch could beat calzaghe at the minute i see froch about 4 to 6th best super middleweight.
Why wouldnt he? Look at both resume and tell me Pascal has a better one. Bika has solid wins over Soliman, Manfredo, Codrington. A draw vs Beyer and hold his own vs. Calzaghe and Bute. So why shouldnt he be able to beat Pascal? Maybe i have seen another Pascal, but that one i saw for sure wasnt that great.
He should fight Inkin and become a unified champ before he loses i think he would have the beating of him.
Inkin pulled out against Froch TWICE, he clearly didn't fancy it so that puts him to bed.Anyone who thinks Bika,Bute,Andrade would beat Froch are seriously lacking in knowledge. Pascal had been avoided almost as much as Froch has been, and there's a reason for that.........he's a bloody good fighter!!
Still not sold on Froch yet...He is slowly proving he can hang with world class fighters but he hasnt convinced me yet. Pascal showed promise and the networks gave him a go..but he nearly got knocked out and dissapointed. He was supposed to fight Miranda but I believe they he got shelved because of his poor showing. I dont think Jean was really avoided...I cant recall him calling out guys or being dodged. I was suprised Pascal stood a traded with someone like Froch..I didnt think his chin was up to it but he had a go thats for sure. Still some part of Froch's game that makes him a bit of a wildcard..He has good pop and appears to have the chin to fight with his hands so low and get away with it. These attributes can take you a long way against the right guys, so it makes it interesting. Right now Kessler and Bika beat him IMO...I think Bute does to but thats a close call...Andrade could but Id pick Froch in that one. If JT fights him the U.S he could very well nick it, I think he dies in the arse in a fight against Froch but he has the tools to outbox Carl for at least a while..if its enough Im not sure yet, Im not that confident in JT. I think better of Froch then I did a year or so ago but still nothing to impressive IMO. Will watch this space though.
