1)Is 3 days a week 1 hour a day enough to be training to become an Amateur?

2)When does the Amateur boxing season start in the U.S.?

3)If you start competing when your 17, does that mean you have to fight people 17-34 or are you still restricted by age until you hit open?

    1) Yes. I only train 3 days as well due to work and am looking to debut soon. Maybe try to make it 4 days if possible closer to the fight.

    2) It's usually all-year around, but the Boxing scene is most active during the summer. Different cities have different active levels though.

    3) Yes, since you are in the Seniors division.

At 17, in UK anyway, you can still fight Youths also. (16 year olds)

With question 1, if that means only technical training then maybe,, but you'll need to add in alot of physical preparation in your own time.

This too. Try to get some roadwork in, as well as some shadowboxing and jump roping for at least the 3 other days of the week. If possible, buy a double-end bag so your timing doesn't get thrown off...and rest on Sundays.
