I see no reason for this story not to be true. Liston beats up an old, retired champion that everybody loves = he actually loses Liston loses to an old, retired champion = he loses even more. If I was one of Liston's handlers I would have hustled him out of there double quick as well.
OMG where is your dictionary/thesaurus? That I "recall incorrectly", is incorrect. I recall correctly
Marciano was a nutter just because he was long retired doesn't mean he will take any **** from liston he knew sonny would do him but rock wouldn't care .sensible people don't become boxing champs.
I don't doubt the stories. I also don't think this applies to people on this board, but I do worry if people read more into the stories as if Marciano had a chance at this stage,or that "if 40+ year Marciano could do this then imagine how it would be when he was younger." Not saying anything about whether or not prime v prime he could, just that I feel the stories show how tough he was and wasn't backing down! Sent from my NS-P10A6100 using Tapatalk
uh wot privy-edge? You mean the privy that you got your head in, spewing manure from both ends, that privy?
Marciano would have beaten Liston prime for prime. Liston wasn't a tricky fighter, didn't have that good of defense, and hardly moved. The most important thing though is heart. Liston didn't have much heart and Rocky had tons of it. Liston would feel The Rocks power and realize the the Brockton Blockbuster isn't scared then would take a dive around the 3rd.
What does this have to do with the thread??? Why inject race into a thread that deals with Marciano stories??? If shampoo wants to start his own thread dealing with race and boxing he is more then welcome to do that.
Marciano was floored for the first time in his career...cut and blinded for three rounds...behind on all scorecards...and then lands the best right hand ever...and wins the title in 1952 against JJW. Has his nose split open down to the BONE in the second fight with Ezzard Charles in Sept.1954....they beg the ref and doctor not to stop the fight...and The Rock KO's Charles and keeps the title. Sonny Liston...as champion..."QUITS WHILE SITTING ON HIS STOOL" against the light hitting Cassius Clay in Miami in Feb. 1964. In May of 1965...in Lewiston Maine...Sonny is KO'd by the...'ahem"...phantom punch against Muhammad Ali in the 1st round. Marciano had a ton of heart...Liston?....
