1. Floyd has lost at least a couple of rounds to all of his last 5 opponents. This indicates that Manny should be able to win rounds too, and if that is the case, can he continue to win more rounds than the average Mayweather opponent? After all, he is better than Floyds last 5 opponents. 2. Manny has dictated the pace in all of his last five fights, even in his loses. The same cannot be said for Floyd, who was made to work harder than he wanted to vs. Maidana, and even Ortiz in the early going. 3. None of Manny's opponents in the last year had been KOd prior to fighting him. A testament to their toughness. Maybe Manny's power hasn't faded as much as it is thought to have? 4. Manny is a big stage fighter. He is used to this environment, and unlike Guerrero or Canelo, he will not freeze in the moment or question his ability to win. 5. Manny has lost. The fear of losing isn't there for him, whereas Floyd has all of the pressure on him. It is a MUST win for Floyd. This favors Manny. 6. Maybe Marquez just has his number? Aside from him, nobody has really troubled him. Tim Bradley had some success, but ultimately gave in to Manny. Marquez is a very different kind of counter puncher when compared to Floyd. He counters more in the pocket, and punches with you. He also fought him 3 times before finally beating him decisively in the 4th (regardless of how you score the first 3, they were close).
7. Manny is better than he looks. Almost all of his opponents have said that seeing him on tape, and a actually dealing with him in the ring, has been surprising at how fast he is. His opponents all cited his speed as the biggest factor They couldn't see the punches coming. Floyd sees most punches coming, but not all. Even from much slower fighters, he does get hit.
end of the third round Floyd got rocked by Maidana in their second fight. I think if Pac catches floyd like that he can put him down
Footwork...stamina...lateral movement. I WANT TO KNOW HOW FLOYD MAYWEATHER DEALS WITH PACQUIAO MOVEMENT, THAT'S ALL I WANT TO KNOW.
It's not about what PBF will do it's about what will Pac do when PBF makes adjustments.:deal That's what you people who think Pac will win don't seem to get.
No, I don't think Floyd will make the adjustments soon enough. Manny will be making adjustments to Floyd adjustments, so on so forth, so it's not the adjustments that will determine the fight. Plus, let's say Floyd can't adjust to Manny till the 9th round. Is that it? Is Floyd's adjustments all you have to hope for in him winning? Because honestly, that's the only scenario I see him winning. But to put all your eggs in one basket like that...it's risky. And if it took Floyd 7 to 8 rounds to adjust to Maidana...I mean... he can't rely on his adjustments being the reason he'll win. He's got to win early rounds.
That's why sticking with Floyd makes me nervous... because, basically I'm putting all my hope and belief in him being able to make adjustments. And if it turns out he can't or it at least takes till round 10 to adjust... then he still loses. That's so risky. That's why I say I see more ways for Pacquiao to win than Floyd.
Pac isn't a thinking man's fighter even Roach said in his breakdown of the fight that PBF is the smarter fighter and has the higher ring IQ. Hell JMM had Pac frustrated with educated footwork using small steps. This is all it took to make Pac look amateurish at times. Who do you think I'm going to trust to make adjustments a guy who takes people's best punches away and only gets hit regulary with a good jab or a guy who gets hit with the same punch over and over again never making any adjustment. You do the math. There's a reason why PBF's the favorite in this fight and most boxers pick him to win, wake up!:deal
If Pac is able to follow up a punch like that with 3 more than it's possible. And also, if Manny is able to land a straight left as cleanly as Maidana did with his straight right, then Floyd's going down. Pacquiao's straight left is still one of the most deadly punches in the welterweight division. I mean...Algieri is a big boy. 5'11 and survived Ruslan's atomic bombs...and Pacquiao's clean straight left in the 9th round put Algieri in the air and flat on his back, practically asleep. There's weird power there.
