That's what I'm saying! Rematch, Floyd wins. But first fight? The adjustment period may take too long. That's why I'm saying he can't rely on that.
Agree buffy. And Floyd's adjustments must include unlearning his bad habits Roach has studied for 5 years.
1. Floyd's slowed down. Hand speed and Reflexes have slowed. From my eye-ball test, it appears that Manny has lost aggressiveness in the past few years, but not foot or handspeed. (that aggressiveness may return for this fight) 2. Manny will not have the feeling of "hero worship" when he fights him. Which means, as soon as Floyd out maneuvers him once or twice....he won't completely lose confidence and go into a shell. Like most of his opponents do. He won't get that feeling of "Oh ****, I was wrong, I really can't hang with him" (at least I hope not ) 3. Manny is the fastest fighter, with the most creative and diverse attack, Mayweather has ever faced. And he's facing him at the end of his career, with slower reflexes. For a defense first fighter, this is backwards of ideal. 4. Manny is a southpaw. 5. And most importantly for me. Pacquiao's last 2 opponents have better prepared him to fight Floyd's style, than vice versa. Not saying Algieri is anywhere near Floyd's level, but he's fleet footed, with a decently fast jab. Bradley isn't Floyd either, but he has the upper body movement and evasiveness in bending and moving to avoid an attack. They are both elusive fighters with fast hands and fast feet. Floyd has fought stationary targets his last 3 fights :deal - I really do think a lot of people are overlooking this glaring point. With all that being said. I can't pick against Mayweather. He's still my favorite. But I'll def be throwing a couple hundies on Pacman with the odds though. :hey
Hardly, Pacquiao fought Algeiri at 143lb. Boiled him down to the bones and still couldn't put him away.
Mayweather has a phenomenal chin, that is indisputable. I can't see him going down from a single punch and he doesn't get caught with combinations.
manny has many skills that make this fight for me, to hard for floyed to win, the most being, manny can hit hard from any angle, floyd has fought great boxer in marquez, judha, dlh, an mosley, but all where past there prime, all where really there to lose an marquez is a much more diffrent fight with manny then it is with floyd, manny could shut out floyd every round an fight marquez in his next fight an it would still be close, there just somthing there, you can't use that fight as an example, you might have to go back to the barrea fight where manny was boxed with high skill, an as stated could land at any angle, balanceing on one foot, still he landed an hard. If he is expecting the marquez manny, floyed would really need to be more of a chance taker. I think pbf rounds will come when manny gets sloppy an looking for the knock out while well ahead on the score cards. An when i say rounds i talking 4 at the most, late, sure floyd might get a robbery, but it will be ovious. This is two diffrent levels in this fight, an floyd would be on the lower level. I have seen floyd make a boxer look like a fool, an person who should not be in the ring with him, but I have never seen him destroy a fighter at level manny has, with the same sort of not just out boxed, but completly destoryed, blood pooring down there facing, get hit with shots every angle. It is hard for me to believe that on saturday night people will be saying that floyd was anything less then over rated, that is type of beating i think he will take, an i don't think he will know how ajust to that sort of person in front of him, a person with the whole package, just as he is. I really think the rematch could be a better chance for him to win, just so he can absorb a defeat, an understand what he was not ready for. I think floyd can beat him, but just not the first time, i think he has never come close to facing somone this good, an quick an strong. Zab was his closet, an that was circus show, this will not be. I am saying that he won't have the time to figure out what he can do, manny is to quick, he will need to dwelll on it for months an come up with a better plan. His ring IQ won't work here, not with a shot comeing from every angle. I honestly can't see a PBF blue print for him beating manny till after he loses an study what might of worked, where taking about the guy who demolished barrea an morles, floyd got nothing that close on his whole resume. an looking foward to bummping this post on sunday.
If one fighter gets dominated, then I truly hope the winner gets their deserved credit. Having said that, I'm pulling for Floyd Mayweather all the way. I hope he can get this done, but I know it's a dangerous fight based on styles + how long it took to get this fight made. Roach admitted that he waited until Mayweather's "legs were gone" in an interview not long ago. Pac better take advantage of this opportunity, because he would've gotten dominated 5 or 6 years ago. Mayweather would still have trouble with the unique attributes that Pac brings... but a younger, fresher Floyd would have been a nightmare for Manny. Roach knew it.
I would like to add that (besides Signsurat and Torrecampo in the early days) nobody has really beaten Pacquiao without risking big time, you either risk being knocked out or go toe to toe with Pac or go in a shell like Clottey and lose. Also Pac has better footwork and work rate than all those fighters mentioned. Good points!
