-Wlad was holding on for a reason in the last round. And you can go all the way back to the first peter fight to find a time when Wlad was stunned, as he was in the 12th against Haye.

-Wlad was also marked up, and when was the last time someone nailed him hard enough to cause that?

-The fight was more competitive than the popular sentiment of this board seems to convey. Wlad did win alot of rounds, but it was not due to his normal steemrolling. Wlad didn'/couldn't land much of anything, himself. Even though he did get the UD decision, it was not due to his normal dominating performance over a lesser man. Some rounds Wlad got, I thought were hard to call.

-Haye is, still, top four or five heavy in the world, even though you'd think he's been beaten by someone like Vinnie Maddelone, the way he's taken apart for losing a decision to the world champion. LOL.

-Even though Wlad knew the backlash of criticism he got from the tentative Ibragimov performance, he ended up with another *Ibragimov*, in light of all the boring descriptions he endures. Odd outcome, if Haye was such a pushover.

I think Wlad was frustrated with how hard Haye was to hit, and how ineffective his jab was. Haye's very impressive defensive movement was the cause of that.

Bottom line...................I think Haye's cocky proclamations of head severing and hospitalization before the fight were taken literally by the younger members of this site, and they don't see that as merely a part of promoting a fight into a mega fight.

So they take their literal translation of Haye's prefight hype, their hatred and the strong emotion they feel towards Haye and as a result, they understate his performance and the threat he still poses to Wlad.

That's my take on this board's wacky attitude towards Haye, anyway.

A rematch with Haye would still be the most interesting fight for Wlad, hate Haye, or not, he is still where the most money and interest are.

The hate is way overboard, it was the most competetive Wlad fight since Peter 1 and Wlad has improved greatly since then.

Rewatched the fight without commentary and it was much closer than most make out, Haye made Wlad miss so much, just wasnt good enough offensively and Wlad had superb footwork and reactions to get himself out of trouble.

I'd honestly like to see them go at it again rather than see Wlad destroy what else is currently out there.

Excellent post. I dont mind a bit of **** talking about Haye now because of all the things he said in the past but still there are some really stupid and unfair criticism of Haye now. Huge credit to Wlad he is a great champion! :happy

Wlad was definitely not hurt in the 12th. He was clearly just preventing Haye from building open a very hard flush shot. You can tell by the way he went right back to work with great footwork and a solid base as soon as they broke. If he was hurt... then he recuperates faster than any fighter in history.

I already have said that Haye did about all he could do. Had he been more aggressive he would have got knocked out. Haye was able to execute his gameplan of getting close enough to land some hayemakers... the problem was that those Hayemakers didn't have any effect on Wlad.

Complete cobblers. Wlad cant have been hurt because hes godly in your eyes. You're a joke pal.
Heavy is right. I think most sensible people realised that this forum is full of children and immature geeks a long time ago.

He definitely was not hurt at all, there was no wobble or stun he just held him to make sure he could not unload further.
The moment they got brokenup Wlad came back with a vengeance and hit Haye a lot more just to make sure he got the round.

Wlad got hit by a number of good right hands by Haye and never really flinched, which makes me think his panic issues have been resolved.

emanuel steward developed a superb gameplan, for me experience won the battle.

not only was haye beaten by an experienced wlad but also an experienced corner man in manny.

i do rate booth highly but i think it just was not meant to be hayes or booths night.

i dont want to see haye fight wlad again, hes proved that he is a great force at cruiserweight but heavyweight is not his place, pity really.

    Some very fair points.

I think people are judging Haye more on failing to do what he bragged he was going to do rather than his actual performance on the night, which in the grand scheme of things compared to other Wlad opponents efforts, wasn't that bad. It's a stretch to say he did well, but his performance certainly wasn't as bad as is being made out.

Wlad won most the rounds, but most of the rounds were fairly close. There was no domination, and neither man really landed that much.

A clear win on the cards for Wlad, but it certainly wasn't as comprehensive a victory as is being made out.

Some of Haye's defensive work was very impressive, especially more so for a HW and it was very clear that at times he was frustrating Wlad big time.

    Offensively Haye came up short.

Away from all the trash talk etc, boxing wise there were some merits to Haye's efforts. He lost, wasn't good enough on the night, but it wasn't all bad.

Wlad can't have been hurt because he is a god in my eyes? How's that... he has been hurt before, and if he keeps on going long enough I am sure he will be hurt again. However, he clearly was NOT hurt in his fight against Haye. Wlad barely held all night... and he did in the 12th exactly what he is trained to do. Just as Lewis, Ali ect... have done. You don't only clinch when you are hurt. You clinch to put a halt to your opponents progression in his offensive attack. Haye landed a successful shot, and was in position to follow up. Wlad put an end to it with a tactical clinch... and then went right back to work back to work, bouncing on his toes and being aggressive.

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Su94I7ZKQ4Y[/ame]

If you watch that and see a fighter who is hurt... then you aren't a very educated boxing observer.

Wlad isn't "wobbling" around while in his clinches. He is being smart by riding out his opponent. In other words, he is forcing his opponent to carry his weight. He does it just about every time that he clinches, just as big men are taught to do. It may make them look like they are off balance, but it is simply because they are riding out and leaning into their opponent. You can tell that Wlad wasn't hurt by the way that he was so clear headed on the break and the way he was bouncing around and right back to work afterward. It isn't as if he charged and held immediately when they engaged again. We have all seen Wlad hurt before, and he certainly shows it when he is.

LMAO, a guy gets hit, holds for a few seconds and all of a sudden he is stunned and aboiut to fall. Ali held a million times when he was hit, Ali was also never knocked out.....Ali was smart, Ali won fights. Wlad was never hurt, but haye was hurt twice in the fight.

You haye fans crack me up.

Yes, all of England demand a rematch. There are outcries from all corners of the country. Here in the West Country, we fear demonstations. Hell, Cameron, Klegg and Miiliband will probably start Questions and Answers in mad agreement about it.

The truth is that, for the most part, the media have skewered David and he looks like a clown, not only to the casuals, but also to otherwise uninformed people who have never even seen a fight. So, in England, on a broad basis, he is probably viewed more as a hypocrite at the moment, than a brave warriour, who gave it all but just came up a little short.

So, oh yes, sign the rematch, send David out to hype it and raise the charges by 20%, because rematches are always more compelling than the originals, are they not?
