We've all seen those fights where one of the fighters, or both, took an obscene amount of punishment, just crazy For example, Nigel Benn against The G man. Benn soaked up so many hard shots, I'm surprised he fought again. Tough sport. . .
sidenote: are we talking "how on eath did he/she get up from that" or "how on earth did they take a beating". like What are the rules? A)do they have to take a huge knockdown but still get up? B)do they have to win the fight? C)do they have to survive the punishing round? A)for knockdowns Razor Ruddock got up from the Morrison left hook or Montiel getting up from that shot from Donaire. B)Ali in Manila Ageless Archie Moore vs Yvon Durelle C)gatti-ward I. the knockdown just screams it's over. even the massive flurry ward lands a round or two before when arturo is against the ropes.
Frank Bruno was almost knocked out cold by Floyd Cummings in the end of round 1 but stayed on his feet sowehow with the help of referee and cornerman. Went on to win the fight few rounds later. Check the video at 8:45 and replay at 9:12: This content is protected
Think it could be winning or losing, knocked down or just battered, but they're actually still able to walk out of the ring!
seen point scoring with -'Tex' Cobb - Holmes -Thompson - Rothmann This content is protected but whats everybody's thoughts on Prince Charles Williams - Merqui Sosa
Also...we may never see it but the answer maybe the guys career. "I am Joe Grim, I fear no man on earth"
Archie Moore surviving that first round vs. Yvon Durelle was pretty amazing, especially at his age. He looked done after that first knockdown. Don't remember the round, but I remember David Izon getting battered around the ring by Derrick Jefferson. Izon survived it somehow and ended up stopping a completely exhausted Jefferson a couple rounds later.
Lou Nova against Tony Galento. Let alone the bludgeoning he took from Galento's low blows, butts and thumbs but he was suffering from blood poisoning at the time, which kept him in a hospital and out of the ring for a year. By the time he was released he had to regain his weight, build himself back and actually came back to stop Max Baer in their rematch and challenge Joe Louis for the title.
