https://imgur.com/gallery/4Ux2XNf So anybody heard some good stories of old fighters who had to call on those old skills again? I know Dempsey KOed a mugger in his 70's or so, but there has to be more stories than that.
This thread has been done many times... Let's just cut to the chase... http://www.nytimes.com/1990/01/12/sports/billy-conn-72-takes-on-robber.html?mcubz=3
I seem to recall hearing somewhere that Jem Mace in his later years almost killed a guy who tried to rob him.
Not a famous pro or anything but my first boxing trainer was a fireman and parttime bouncer. He was an amateur champ in our state at middleweight as a teen. Hes got a build like Kermit Cintron thinish but real wide maybe 190lbs now and hes around 45. He was at a bar working and some massive Islander was getting aggressive. He warned him to not come closer as he was backed into a wall by a man well over 250lbs. Hes a southpaw so he told me he took a half step back and loaded up the left hand. In a uppercut he clobbered this guy and even got 2 of that guys teeth embedded in his fist. He said it hurt like hell and stopped working at bars.
There's a story that Archie Moore, when he was about 60, took a photo of some road workers in Nigeria. One of them took offence and tried to intimidate him into handing over his camera. Moore knocked him cold but paid for it with an infected cut from the man's tooth and remarked that, "If a man can bite my fist before I can get it out of his mouth, I'd better stop fighting in the streets."
