Its been alot of talk from " haters" about Broner's performance agaist Paulie. People seem to forget when a good or great fighter moves up in weight his power decreases for good reason. Fighters in higher weight classes are bigger, stronger and can absorb a shot better for the most part. Ex... RJJ, Sugar Ray Robinson and Leonard James Toney... Micheal Spinks...Thomas Hearns just to name a few. Broner, still punch stat wise was Awesome. Paulie to his credit is not a bum and is durable and was a world title holder with a good chin. Broner, (moved up two weight classes) to his credit is only 23 and in time he can only get better. Good learning experience for him.

it was Paulie“s Heart that kept him on the game. the guy has the heart of a lion but his pillow fisted punches kept him from becoming A level fighter. :bbb

There are a few guys that have been able to keep their punching power as they have moved up in weight that I can think of...Tommy Hearns, Pacquiao, David Haye...but for the most part fighters do lose their power when they move up to fight bigger guys.

It's not like paulie is a real WW, he is a natural 140lber that moved up. Paulie is not bigger than broner, he is only taller. Broner weighed more on fight night.

Broner, was at 130 about 3 fights ago. So...Broner really is the smaller guy.

Broner was fighting at 130 a year ago this was his first fight at 147 and he's not a WW, people seem to forget this. I don't see why people thought Broner was going to KO Paulie and it would be a walk in the park. The guy is tough as **** has a jab and a ring IQ.

Losing too much weight, being drained can reduce your power and chin. Sometimes a step up makes a lot of difference for the better, surprisingly in punch power and punch resistance, even though your getting hit and hitting naturally bigger opponents. Sometimes a step up in weight gives you a speed advantage. Burns looks much better at lightweight than at 130. Froch perhaps a natural Super-middleweight would struggle at Middleweight and Light Heavyweight.

True, reason some guys perform better at higher weights is because they are actually more suited to that weightclass

Hearns is 6'3, no wonder he kept his power upto cruiserweight

It's all about when you start getting cumbersome

not always true. a fighter who was boiling down to a lower weight would become weak over time, when they move up they are at a more natural weight and have more energy/power.

with broner, i am not sure. I bet he spends most of his career around 147.

The guy is a welterweight, a super lightweight at the very least. I used to argue with Broner fans how he was beating up on little guys and they'd always bring up height stats and **** but Broner has just proved my point by fighting at 147 a year or so later. Unless he hit a major growth spurt, or maybe he quit the sauna, I'm leaning towards the latter.

Well Broner to most at ringside won comfortably. Broner, will get only get better. Broner, also landed nearly half his punches and had more power shots than Paulie had total punches. That speaks volumes.

Yes, not always true. You have to go on a case by case basis. Some guys look like beasts when they drain down one or two divisions whereas some guys look like the Crypt Keeper.
