Former heavyweight champion John Ruiz took a big step to recapturing fistic glory by pounding out a unanimous decision over the highly regarded behemoth, Jameel McCline. Ruiz used his patented 'ground & pound - vertical style' attack to hammer out the decision. A match-up with Samuel Peter could be in the offing? Let's wait and see.

That's what I'm talkin' about. Throw Ruiz in the mix of things to bring a sense of normalcy to the division. Viva La Quietman!

Indeed. Nothing would please me more than for Peter to pull "a Tua" on that cheating clubfigher.

The only good thing about Ruiz beating McCline is that we might get to see him starched by a decent fighter.

I'd genuinely favour Ruiz over Peter - Fitter, LESS sloppy for once, and with the ability to put Peter on the canvas with one of his sneaky shots. Ruiz via tedious, tooth grinding decision.

Ay, ay, ay. Let's not use my name in vain.

Here's what fightnews had to say about the McCline/Ruiz affair:

The promised "new" John Ruiz (43-7-1, 29 KOs) seems exactly like the old one. "The Quiet Man" tediously grappled his way to a unanimous decision win over equally disappointing Jameel McCline (39-9-3, 23 KOs). Scores were 117-111, 118-110, and 119-109 in a bout that left the fans in Cancun to entertain themselves by mocking the fighters with chants, catcalls, and whistles normally reserved for the ring card girls.

ruiz is quietly building an impressive career legacy, the scores were incredibly wide, and I can't wait to find this classic on the net somewhere to see his dominance with my own eyes.

or I'll use the video to punish children.

Ruiz is the worst thing that can happen to boxing. He drives people to turn off the fights...I refuse to watch this guy, this is boxing not wrestling.
