The fight visually resembles Fury vs Wlad

People forget this but Fury vs Klitschko 2 was at risk of being moved to Germany because they couldn't sell out the M.E.N arena because the first one was so incredibly dull.

Fury's 2 comeback fights have been met with boos from the crowd.

AJ vs Wilder is one of the biggest fights that can be made right now, if we lose that then God forbid fury bores everyone to death in a victory over AJ the heavyweight division will be dead again.

Personally I dont want to go back to the days of Wlad vs Liakovic where the heavyweight champ can't get on TV because nobody wants to watch him fight.

This is why I'm pulling for Wilder to catch fury and stop him

Fury v Klitschko 2 wasn't selling well because the ticket prices were like nothing seen in the UK before or since. The message board was littered with people who wanted to go but couldn't afford tickets or refused to pay mad money for them.

I won't deny that AJ/Wilder would be a more exciting matchup than AJ/Fury for anyone who isn't a Fury fan. But in the UK, AJ v a victorious Fury would smash the British PPV record twice over and then some. It would bring boxing popularity in the UK back to heights not seen since the days of Ali, with every network looking for a piece of the promotion.

Whatever about the States. In the UK, AJ/Fury is much bigger than AJ/Wilder and that can only be a good thing for the sport on our side of the Atlantic.

Well IF Fury wins that's what the fight will resemble more than anything else.

I have no confidence Fury v Joshua gets made if Fury wins.

There's a lot of acrimony between the promotional teams.

What I love about boxing is what I like about the other sports I love - from one day to the next you can never be sure what you'll see. Sometimes a football match (soccer for) is end to end and high scoring with lots of attacking skill. Other times it's cagey and tactical and slow.

I love a proper tear-up. I love the excitement of a full on slug fest. But I can appreciate the slower fights as well, and the slug fests would soon become boring if every fight was two blokes going toe to toe with little defence.

I'd watch Fury all day long. We'll see what Wilder's got, but fair play to him, he makes you want to switch on. I'll watch AJ too, but he's the least interesting of the three to me.

I agree. I'm a big Fury fan personally and love to watch him fight. People talk about Klitschko/Fury being boring but it's one of my favourite ever fights. Watching Fury completely nullify Wlad's attack was fascinating.

We'll never see a 6 foot 9 man move like Fury again. I for one am enjoying him while he's here.

Spot on. The idea of a sport is to win, and watching Fury do next to nothing and still embarrass Klitschko was beautiful. As you say, the fight was fascinating.

Are you any more confident that Wilder vs Joshua gets made if Wilder wins?

    Wow

Mate I can appreciate a technical fight but that was dire

There's nothing entertaining about Fury imo, he's awkward, ugly on the eye, clumsy, but somehow makes it work for him.

Boring is fine. Wlad was boring. Wlad was an all time great.

Bigger problem with a Fury victory: It gives control of the division to a man with drug (and mental health?) issues. These issues are serious enough that Fury already took a year off from his prime boxing years, and gained a ton of weight, because of them.

Wlad is an ATG and gets respect NOW but for most of his career it was a different story.

His Ibragamov fight prompted HBO to abandon heavyweight boxing entirely.

Wlad was considered boring and the heavyweight division "trash" up until Wlad beat Haye, that was the changing point in public perception when Wlad started to get respect.

And the thing with Wlad was at least he knocked people out after a few boring rounds.

Fury is patter cake patter cake for 12 rounds, he's actually WORSE THAN klitschko. Ali was a master boxer but he was fluid and entertaining. Fury is simply ugly to watch.

The "fighting man" who takes the fighting part out of "the fight game"

I agree about the drugs part and it's shameful people just pretend like that didn't happen.

But if Fury goes on a long reign patty caking his way to UD after UD the crowds will start dwindling and it'll just be the few online "hardcores" waxing lyrical.

I loved the Wlad Fury fight. It was no Gatti v Ward by any stretch of the imagination and watching the fight back more than once is quite painful. I think to appreciate that fight you had to be emotionally involved in that fight and watching it live, and i desperately wanted Fury to win ( I gave him 0% chance). It was amazing and exciting as it was happening.

I very much doubt this fight will be anything like that what so ever. Wilder is not Wlad. Wilder is not half the fighter Wlad was but i cant see Deontay trying to do anything other than what Deontay does and what Deontay does can be cringeworthy at times but its never dull and always aggressive. Fury may well confuse and befuddle Wilder but it wont stop him swinging. Its all he knows.

Deontay's fights are entertaining. I like him. BUT, would it be bad for boxing if Fury wins? I don't know. His fight against Wlad sucked. But is it good for boxing that a wild swinging dude can't be beat? Just means the talent is low. Wilder makes so many mistakes, it's crazy that HWs are not good enough to capitalize on them right now.
