If you had to devise a gameplan for Donaire should he get a second fight against Rigondeaux what would you have him do?
In that first fight with Rigo he looked utterly lost. And the discouraging thing is that he fought exactly like himself. The simple fact is the things that Donaire is accustomed to doing simply did not work against Rigondeaux.
So what could Nonito do this time around to be more competitive?

if they do fight again, donaire should just sit back and wait to counter rigo. :yep

donaire isn't that good as far taking the lead in a fight....maybe he should go to roach.

Guys, Donaire was waiting to counter Rigo.

He was coming forward, which might create the illusion that he was being aggressive, but he was mainly coming forward without throwing. He was stalking Rigo behind a high guard, waiting for him to make a mistake so that he could unleash his left-hook counter. Mayweather did something similar to Mosley -- coming forward and creating pressure, but waiting for him to attack, so he could quickly counter him. Donaire's problem is that Rigo's timing, movement, skill and speed were at the kind of level where Donaire found it very difficult to counter him. Rigo could land pot shots and quickly get away. He rarely made mistakes, so there wasn't many openings for a counter. Donaire eventually realised this and, in one of the rounds, came out more aggressively and managed to knock Rigo down. Unfortunately, becoming more aggressive also means a higher risk, and he ended up walking into counters and falling back. He tried to be aggressive again in the final round, but once again walked into a big punch, and then had to go into defensive mode.

donaire's best bet is to fight face forward fighters that make him look good. rigondeaux is too skilled, too fast and too slick for donaire. wait and hope that he gets old or someone else gives him a beat down that diminishes him. until then...avoid him at all costs and act like he doesn't exist.

So is Donaire simply a really good athlete with a ton of power who simply can never match Rigo in the skills department?

When its all said and done Donaire will be in the HOF while Rigo will only be remembered as an Olympic gold medalist. That ugly mafaka doesn't have a following (maybe 10 of them) and boring as fûck and doesn't have a personality. He will just b another Paulie Malignaggi with a gold medal.
