Just watched this documentary about Ray Mancini on Amazon Prime.Very interesting deals with his early life and then concentrates on his tragic fight with Deuk Koo Kim.Highly recommended
The Good Son, book by Mark Kriegel, is very good. Kriegel also wrote biographies of Joe Namath and Pete Maravich. He researched Mancini, of course, but also went to Korea to talk to sources about Duk Koo Kim and devotes a lot of the book to their showdown and its aftermath. As a bonus, here’s the late, great Warren Zevon: This content is protected
Good book. I think I've seen the documentary too. A fighter that is put in the convenient box of "glorified club fighter" to various uneducated folks here. The truth is that he was actually pretty good and it took good efforts from real good fighters to bring him down. A worthy champion.
What's not to respect? He fought and trained hard, always gave an honest effort, and had an exciting style.
