Yes I think a rematch would of been a complete different fight Fury got Wlad at the best possible time he had got complacent and had his head on a lot of things other than boxing he needed the L to refocus

He probably is regretting some choices, as we all do in life.

from what I heard/read, whyte was not wanting the fight and turning down offers too. So there are stories from both sides. Truth is, in boxing just like any business deals/transactions It’s not always about ducking or whatever but if what is offered is the correct or good value at the given time, from your own perspective. You may be right, wrong or in the middle. It’s childish to think otherwise.
I am guessing (may be wrong), that Ortiz wanted it in US, whyte wanted it in UK.

interesting that all the claimed ducks are of UK fighters. All of whom had promoters who will have wanted the fight on UK soil.

If you are correct about Ortiz wanting the fight in the US it would still be his fault for not taking it in the UK that fight made a lot more sense in the UK it's wear the money was for it at the time maybe he should of backed himself more if he was that confident.

That fight probably would not of made the money needed to pay them both if it was in the US

Because that's where the money was at the time. Ortiz was not the draw in a fight with Whyte and for it to generate the kind of purse they'd have both been happy with it needed to be staged in the UK. How many tickets does Ortiz Whyte sell in the US? How many PPV buys are there for that fight if it's not staged at a time friendly for UK audiences?

I just said I’m guessing so, it’s not based off anything.
Generally speaking, not many US prospects want To come to England to put their career on the line. That’s just how it’s been

I agree, but I’m not his manager or advisor etc. but it was his choice if this is the truth. it may not be either.

What I do know is, whyte is a nobody outside of uk.

Not many prospects want to fight away from home regardless of nationality because boxing lacks any true independent sanctioning body they all are swayed by the promoters in one way or another it's the worst thing about the sport no other top sport is like this

All the more reason to take the cash and do a number on him then. It's not like Ortiz was this huge draw who didn't need big money fights and for better or worse Whyte would have offered him a relatively big purse whilst keeping him in the rankings.

Same could be said with Wilder. He was earning peanuts compared to what Joshua was earning at the time. One of them was selling out stadiums, making huge sums in and out of the ring. The other was Deontay Wilder.

When you admit he probably should have been waved off, arguing he won by a wide margin is such a moot point.

I didn't say it probably should have been called off.
I said some referees would've waved it off - no judgement about which is the correct call... Fairly ambivalent about it to tell you the truth.

And it's not a moot point to recognize that the moment it goes to the cards, only one result is correct.

If you want to argue it could've been waved off then you can - but when it comes to the points, you can't score that fight for Wilder without corruption.

True. Boxers (and other transactions) get several offers, and they turn down most and pick the ones that fit them best.
Which is probably why we also hear of whyte turning down Ortiz.

turning down an offer isn’t always a duck, we get offered things everyday through the post and on emails etc. we choose which deals we want to pursue and the ones we don’t feel are right, we dont.

I don’t believe any of them duck whyte, who has no fear factor about him. I do believe whyte is difficult to deal with, look at his behaviour during the fury fight.

I don’t think this is fully true, I’ve grown up round boxing and pretty much every boxers dream is to fight in America under the lights in vegas etc.
if you make it in America, your status is set!
Even whilst AJ was selling out stadiums, he wanted to make it in America.

Also, Britain has a bad reputation with overseas fighters that they won’t get a fair shake here.

I think Ortiz was stupid to not take the Matchroom money and travel considering he wasn't a draw. He definitely lost money by not fighting the British guys and I think that's due to Haymon's influence in service of Wilder rather than his own interests.

The whole making it in America thing is a complete relic of the past now. If you asked any of the British fighter's if they'd rather sell out MSG or Wembley Stadium 10/10 are saying Wembley.

And it's not like visiting fighters have always got a fair shake stateside either. Plenty of robberies/dodgy reffing decisions in the Land of the Free.
