A great victory, but it got me thinking...

Why is Pac doing so good against these guys? Cotto, Hatton, DLH...

And yet he struggled with Morales, JMM, even MAB a bit in the rematch?

Then it occurred to me, that fighting these larger men in a way is a calculated risk...while Manny CAN deal with bigger power due to his granite chin, fighters at 147 CAN'T deal with his speed, whereas guys like JMM and Morales could.

The likes of Morales, Barrera and Marquez were all top fighters. We should just give credit to Pacquiao for going from strength to strength, great fighters can just produce top form sometimes.

That's because Marquez,Barrera,Morales are Elites in the lower division that Pacquiao had to deal with

And Pacquiao got better even when he moved up in weight because he already got the experience of going toe to toe wars with Morales,Barrera,Marquez

    That is the reason IMO

he was drained in his last few fights at SF... not to mention those 3 mexicans are top notch fighters.

I've also read somewhere that pac only started watching tapes of his opponents during the diaz fight.

he is more experience now and much smarter.

Because he was cooking himself to stay at that weight and for most boxers, they don't realise how much damage they're doing by doing this.

Pacquaio is eating five meals a day, working out and he maintains the weight in and around the 144 mark. This is a top athlete and he's feeding his body properly, therefore when he comes into the ring, he's firing, his body isn't ad******g to sudden hydration.

I think more fighters should look at this and the Klitschko's example of being year round in shape athletes.

His ability to jump weight is truly amazing.

His speed , power, strength and stamina seems as good if not better then it was at the lower weights. Plus he seems as durable, certainly more durable then his 112-122 days.

When you can move up and still be as fast as you were it just makes it unfair for these bigger relatively cumbersome (to Manny) fighters. His speed just has a greater impact, especially given his skillset has come a long way and he is using against less skilled fighters then MAB and JMM like Ricky and Miguel

    Special talent is an understatment.

MAB, Morales, and JMM, those guys are all great fighters. Pac actually toyed with Barrera the first time not too differently than what he did to Cotto last night.

You can make same the argument for Duran also- he had some tough wars as a lightweight and schooled some top fighters at the higher weights..

Because those guys were top notch guys who are used to fighting opponents with faster speeds. The lighter guys will always be fast and they are accustomed to it were as these guys in the higher weight classes arent.

    Not really.

Think of it this way. If you're so slim and small at a weight that every single muscle in your body continues to bulge - you're not "blown up"

I think Manny could campaign comfortably at 147. Maybe even 154. The muscle is going in the right places, which extends his ability to take shots, his endurance isn't effected and due to not bulking rather than just applying lean muscle mass, his speed isn't effected, if anything it's improved.

Mayweather is far more "top heavy" than Pacquaio and looks less natural at the weight than Pacquaio has thus far, that should tell you something.

He's getting better with the weight, becoming stronger, hitting harder, becoming just as fast almost and Roach is devising great gameplans. His skills and balance and effectiveness is just improving. It's amazing.
