A heavyweight Mayorga is literally undefeated. Makes boxing look bad.

Don’t get the comparison at all, not only do they fight nothing alike, these guys have all failed miserably upon stepping up. Wilder at least has a win over Ortiz and gave Fury a very good fight. He destroys Algeiri/Barrera/Rubio level opponents.

Mayorga did not lose to Algieri/Barrera/Rubio level opponents. He lost to DLH/Tito/Mosley level opposition. Dervontae can consider himself lucky, dat dere iz nobody as good as these bois in da HW division.

Oh, I don't know Bro. Aside from Joshua who has Wilder avoided? He fought the two guys Joshua avoided.

Snails have shells but the comparisons to a slug are clear as day.

Makes sense since their technique is awful. I'm actually being nice to Wilder. Mayorga beat Vernon Forrest and fought much, much better opposition than Wilder. He also showed in the Mosley fight that he can adapt, unlike Wilder who just finally landed a shot but did not show any adjustments whatsoever getting shut out.

Wilder fought Fury because he thought he was done. He was up for the rematch because the knockdowns gave him confidence.

    The important part there is:

    Wilder fought Fury.

Both Fury and Ortiz have said for a few years that AJ has ducked them. Wilder's level of competition is awful, but he's a heavyweight, who has he missed? Parker? Whyte? come on. Breazeale is the same level as them.

There are a lot more 147 lb. guys who can box than 200+ lbers. Just sort of is that way.

Did you just compare Wilder's skills to Mayorga's? How dare you insult El Matador like that? :cursing2:

I said later I'm being nice to Wilder :D. Mayorga actually impressed me to some degree against Mosley. He adapted. I never expect that from him.

Well, my original post was not about him ducking. Just his skills. I think he makes too many mistakes and if the division was any good, he should be getting KO'd.

I find it hard to believe with how wild and out of balance he can be that he would last long against past top heavyweights. It shouldn't happen.

Mayorga probably didn't fall flat on his face after throwing a wild punch. Wilder did on multiple occasions as a pro.

Mayorga having zero skill has become a very clichéd, yet untrue platitude when looking back at that era. Liberty Valance, print the legend and whatnot. It fit the narrative of him being this beer-swilling, cigar-chomping trash-talking Galento-esque maniac to paint him as some kind of Carlos Maussa with power, who couldn't box a lick, but he always did have an underrated skill-set and was never really just a mindless brawler IMO.
