I was thinking of that too, But no one knows who Jack the Ripper was how do you know where he was born, But that could be the answer he wants.

With that hint, I will go with Jack the Ripper and Berg as well.

I was considering if it was a trick question, such as the fighter came from a place like Bordentown, New Jersey--(Lizzie Borden)--rather than there were actual killings there. The clues seem to rule that out, though.

London as a "killer town" isn't what I recall from my visits there. Great place.

hh why did I know it would be you ?
Yes vthe fighter was Jackie Kid Berg, great lightweight born in 1909 in
    Whitechapel. London.
The town was where the infamous Jack The Ripper, murdered and disemboweled a slew of women in 1888...The killer was never found, and to this day the grizly murders were never solved...Still a mystery....
I did not post that the killer was 'born' there...Maybe and maybe not....
I got to contact Scotland Yard for more details....

There was a book a few years back that claimed that Freddie Mills was a serial killer. It said he was the man behind the "Jack the Stripper" killings of the 60s.

I never read the book, but from what I heard, it's evidence against Mills was thin to non-existent.

I've read that book - it was about the parralel sad declines of Randolph Turpin and Freddie Mills - I wouldn't say they evidence was thin (maybe a touch circumstantial) - Freddie was mixed up with gangster's aswell - The Kray Twins names were banded about as suspects for his murder
