In the morning, I helped give birth to a wild bull. In the evening, I pushed the wheels for a warped, frustrated old man. Who am I?
The answer is, of course.... Frank Hagney. An Aussie boxer of some repute, he left us with a record of 0-8, having been KO'd 7 times. He was Firpo's debut opponent. He also faced Charley Weinert, Erminio Spalla and himself debuted against Arthur Pelkey. He later became an actor, most famously seen as the bodyguard and wheelchair pusher of old Mr. Potter in the holiday classic It's A Wonderful Life.
Hagney wrote a few articles for various boxing mags, recounting his experiences with tough guy actors on set such as John Wayne and Gary Cooper, he was very complimentary to both.
