A Holmes-Norton observation

    It was a close fight and whilst Holmes was outside his comfort zone (even in the rounds he won) Larry was the one that worked harder and dug deeper. I still think he deserved it.

    Norton always had more authority but was either edging his rounds or giving rounds away almost in the hope Larry slowed down. where as Larry was still more clearly out boxing Ken for the rounds he won. Norton needed Holmes to slow down before he got into the fight. Larry was always there working.

    Great fight but I don't think Ken deserved to edge it.

    It was a great fight and Norton almost did it. Was there ever serious talk of a rematch?

    If Norton had won, I wonder if Ali would have been tempted to come back and fight him for a fourth time?

    Two years ago it was said in a past post that the Norton-Shavers match was for the WBC number 1 contender spot. When Shavers beat Norton and fell off the face of the earth it spoiled the party.

    Yes, Norton blew a rematch losing to SHavers.
