Everyone has heard the rumors that Hopkins would ideally like to end his career fighting David Haye for a heavyweight title. If he beats Pascal, which is a big if, it remains to be seen whether or not B-Hop will jump straight to challenge Haye or work his way up. If he wants to go right into that fight, a Haye v. Klitschko bout wouldn't take place for at least another year. The Haye and Klitschko relationship is rough as it stands and one can only imagine how the two camps would feel about eachother after another year of he-said, she-said. Who knows if Haye will ever fight a Klit, but if Hopkins beats Pascal, I'd start to have my doubts...

Hopkins can make a name for himself beating American-level heavyweights such as McCall, Barrett, Banks, Brock, Brewster, McCline, Wilder, Briggs, Austin, Rahman, Grant, and Tarver, but will lose to Ustinov, Dimentrenko, Boystov, and Virchis

LOL, why the HELL would BHOP want to fight either Ustinov, Dimentrenko or Virchis?
No one except Russians know who the hell they are, and further more, what worldly recognizable names have either of them fought to even get the networks interested?

The original thread author made an interesting point with this thread. Please don't fuk it up with nonsense about Hopkins fighting nobodies for no reason at all. :good

Blandry, I really hadn't thought through the consequences of a Hopkins win over Pascal, but after reading your post, I think I have to agree that at the very least it would throw a loop into the current heavyweight scenario. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out, but first Hopkins has to defeat Pascal.

if Hopkins beats Pascal (which I think he will) then I think he'll retire.

Those fighters are the best heavyweights of the current generation and if Hopkins wants to establish a significant legacy at heavyweight, he absolutely has to fight at least 2 of the above-mentioned fighters.

I dont think he has set out to become a Heavyweight. Not at his age. If he can get a Haye fight he will do it and thats it. He said hed have slim chance agains the Klitchkos.

Hopkins would get annihilated at HW against Haye. Haye is so much faster, bigger, stronger, quicker, and more agile. No amount of slick boxing and ring generalship is going to save Hopkins from getting mauled

That's actually a really good idea. If he did that and won then he should retire. I don't know if he would though because almost everyone looks at Tarver as a joke at heavyweight. He's pretty much a LHW with 50 pounds of fat on him.

Yeah, he may be able to last a few rounds, but physically he just can't handle a specimen like Haye.

Hopkins at Heavyweight is insane. He will embarrass himself.

He could fight at Heavyweight but those extra pounds will take it´s toll in the second half of the fight and he´s not strong enough to tie Haye up.

    As I asked earlier;

Who have they beaten to be acknowledged as, the best?

How come no one knows either of these clowns outside of Russia?

Anyway, who says an old near retirement Hopkins is interested in ESTABLISHING himself at HW?
That makes little sense because I really don't see Hopkins taking more than 1-2 fights before he calls it quits. BHOPs real legacy is already in place. As I see it, he's just putting a little icing on the cake while earning a few more retirement dollars.

I believe Hopkins will beat Pascal. If he goes on and makes a fight with Haye, I believe Haye will win, but not by KO.
It will be an ugly UD and Hopkins will finally retire with a few more dollars in his pocket.
The win would be good for Haye, because he will have gained some additional experience while letting the clock tick and the Klits to get another year of age on them.
HOWEVER, if by some huge miracle, Hopkins should beat Haye, what then?

If he wanted to fight Haye, he would have done so already.
