Hell yeah! Most definitely. Hopkins should already rank above Floyd pound for pound b/c of his title defenses. Despite his loss to Roy, what he did for so many years is more impressive than Floyd winning a belt from Gatti (past prime club fighter), Baldomir (journeyman), and DLH (wayyyyyyyyy past prime). Not to mention, since 140, i believe Floyd has only had 1 title defense. Which by the way was against the 140 lb champ.

Floyd was the man at 135 and under, but since then, nothing special but overrated championships.

Of course. That is a great win especially if he pulls a stunt like he did with tarver that nobody seen coming. It wont happen like that, but it would be nice.

    floyds 4 Best wins
    Prime Corrales-Decent win
Prime Jose Louis Castillio-Decent win but Floyd lost the 1st fight
Prime Hatton-a good win but i can name 7 welter weights who would have sparked hatton in more brutal fashion
Zab Judah-most over rated inconsistant fighter in the sport

  7. If Hopkins beats Calzaghe then yes I must concur with the OP!

A Hopkins win would be great for his legacy. And a loss won't tarnish it one bit considering how old the man is. He has nothing to lose and a lot to gain.

So let me get this straight....a Hopkins win puts him at the top of the tree but a loss doesn't matter to his legacy all that much......The problem with Hopkins is,is he is a politican alwasy trying to get the advantages before the fights even start. The one time he did travel to fight he almost got his ass handed to him getting deck twice in Ecuador.Calzaghe wouldn't have been regarded as so great if he stayed in UK,so why the double standard when it comes to Hopkins?.

    cotto
    mosely
    margerito
    cintron
    williams
    quintana
judah-i still stand by the fact that hes inconsistant and over rated but i'd pick him over hatton at 147 any day hatton was phased several times by collazo i doubt his chin would hold up against zabs uppercuts

Because the competition in America is greater than Europe. All of the ATG are american so therefore you must go to America to be considered great. As far as hopkins almost gettin beat, he was in Ecuador where the altitude ****ed with him and he didnt prepare for that fight all that great. You see he got the KO in the rematch. There wont be any difference in the atmosphere between europe and america so that wont be an excuse for calzaghe. The fact is that calzaghe is gonna come to america and receive his first loss.

A win by Hopkins or Calzaghe in this fight is better than any of Floyd's victories.

    Agreed

Floyd has nothing comparable to a potential Hopkins victory over Calzaghe.
