Well according to you why would anyone choose anything other than the cross guard. It's impervious to everything.
You have to use multiple jabs to be successful against fighters with a good fast jab. Now against Floyd its a different storey. He is just to fast and once he figures this out he will just control his own distance.
You have to have a jab in order to have a chance to beat pbf. It disrupts his rhythm and keeps him honest. Pacs lack of a jab is one of the main reasons why he can't beat pbf.
A jab is definitely needed unless its a prime Hopkins type at WW who actually utilizes the righthand lead actually better than Floyd does Pac doesn't have that weapon either.....its gonna be very tough for Pac...
Yes but Manny Pacqiauo isn't De La Hoya is he? De Lay Hoya 73" inch reach Mayweather 72" inch reach Pacqiauo 67" inch reach
There's the problem, those fighter don't exist anymore.. Too many fighters think like today fan, they think that speed, and a strong punch is all that is needed. You very few fighter polish their skills these days. This is why Floyd has taken advantage of so many young fighters these days, with the exception of the Russian and Cuban fighters.
This is such ****! Oscar was not winning the fight at all. Floyd was winning the fight his punches were crisp and accurate. Oscar threw a lot of punches and missed a lot of punches.
True but look how seldom you get to see the the Russian fighters and its even more rare to see the Cuban fighters....boxing talent is definitely in a shortage...i know a lot of us older boxing fans still watch because we love the sport, but i doubt 15 years ago we would have barely batted a eye at 98% of these guys....this is why UFC is bigger now, boxing has to much politics and fighters dont hone their craft anymore, its a art form and i think that aspect has been lost....
he showed how to counter hooks and the right hand using the philly shell. With the jab, he just parries it. He doesn't twist his body making you miss it, like he does with the right hand and the hooks, meaning he's more open to the jabs. Everybody knows this, but it's hard to keep to the gameplan of just using the jab because Floyd takes your mind off the gameplan. He's a genius in the ring, not just with skills, but also boxing intelligence.
Iv said this, but some so called boxing expert states that he does not.. Floyd will ether parry the Jab counter over it or, slip and counter with the right hand. Or he may just bend at the waist to avoid it .. The point being you, never now how Floyd will react to the jab, or how he will counter the jab. In any case, like I said before, you need more then just a Jab for someone of Floyd skill set, you need an educated jab to deal control floyd.
i don't see jab working that effectively in this match-up. DLH, who had a reach advantage, used his jab effectively but Pac won't have it that easy. Pacquiao has to employ the following, IMO: 1. Make good use of right hooks. Southpaws can give Floyd problems with a good right hook, making Floyd turn his body away, making it harder to counter with a right hand 2. Look for when Floyd makes mistakes with shoulder roll and leaves himself open. Floyd uses his shoulder roll instinctively and at times has used it at the wrong times vs southpaws. Corley caught him with left hands a few times when Floyd mistakenly used shoulder roll but left himself open for left straights. 3. IN/OUT and constant head movement. If you are stationary vs Mayweather, you are in a lot of trouble. Pacquiao will need to pick his spots, move in, unleash 2-3 punches, move out quickly and at times counter Floyd. He cannot stay in front of Floyd throwing for more than 3 seconds.. 4. Move non-stop. Pac has the fresher legs and quicker feet (it's just irrefutable if you look at their last few fights). He has to use this to his advantage and move non-stop for 12 rounds. This way he can make Floyd work, force Floyd to take breaks and then capitalize when Floyd takes those breaks.
