I have not seen any other fighters with the strength and skill to do what Joe Louis can do. And that is to control his opponents hands. He is a master of just swiping your hand away from your face leaving it open for a bomb. At first I thought why don't more fighters use this tactic? But I realized the incredible strength it takes to do something like that. To control a professional heavyweight boxers hands, and moving them at will, requires the similar contrasting strength levels of a man and his son. (Exaggeration, but seriously)

Have you guys seen any other fighters do this? Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Think of the Braddock KO. Louis literally punches Braddocks glove all the way to the side and then connect with his knockout right hand that leaves the Cinderella Man on the canvas for minutes.

There has to have been some other fighter who has used this technique. Can you guys think of anyone?
Can you think of any other fighters who have a unique skill like that?

It's actually illegal I think, can anyone confirm that?

You can see Wlad using a slightly different version against Iggy.

Tyson also does it against this guy here

Notice how his jab or left hand pulls that shell apart at :40?

As for legality I don't know, because it doesn't seem that different from the Andre Ward/Jack Johnson/Armstrong wing chun sticky hands inside fighting and its VERY easy to disguise as a punch.

Ezzard Charles did this quite a bit against Louis himself...and he was very. very slick with it. He would push Louis' hands low, get his punches off...then get out of range. Very aggravating guy to fight with...Knew all the tricks.

Any one particular black fighter who came to the #1 contender's spot that you feel Louis ducked, Duce?

Gus Dorazio had a win over Lem Franklin, who was probably the best black contender who was active during Louis's pre war title reign.

    Lee Q. Murray
    Turkey Thompson

Those guys were much better than Jack Roper, Tony Musto, Gus Dorazio or Red Burman.

Jesus Christ, don't you ever shut the **** up?

Every single thread, there you are, telling people they're idiots and that they have no idea about boxing. How is he, in any way, comparing Johnson to Braddock? Some of us are interested in that type of thing, you just seem to be interested in making trouble.

If you can't calm yourself, perhaps you should go back to YouTube. I'd be astonished if you could find three posters who would consider you had contributed anything but bad temper to this forum.

A 190 pound glass jaw who holds the unfortunate distinction of having taken probably the most powerful right hand Tyson ever threw flush on the chin.
