It strikes me that two of the greatest feats in modern boxing history may have been made in this very year, by the time we look back on 2010. This content is protected , who started off as a light-flyweight and won his first world title at flyweight, this year won the vacant WBC light-middleweight title in a 150lbs fight. Whether you like, dislike or don't care about catchweights, from 106-150lbs is a STAGGERING achievement. When has this ever been done before? This content is protected first fought for the mw world title in 1993, won his 1st mw world title in 1995, and now in 2010 he fights (again) for the lhw title. Whether you rate Pascal or not, to be the oldest man to ever win a world title is a LANDMARK achievement. So, which feat would you consider to be greater? :bbb
Pacquiao without a doubt. The guy is a serious freak that has managed Jump more weight classes than anyone else. B-Hop is an old man still putting it about. That's about it.
I think who they achieved against decides this one easily, but at the moment I don't see Hopkins pulling this amazing thing off. Would've been closer if Martinez, a real 154-er hadn't vacate, but he did, and Margarito had little to zero credibility entering the fight. It was simply the next Top Rank Only show and Arum bought a vacant belt neither fighter earned a shot to fight for.
Oldest man to win a world title.....that record just sounds special, should he pull it off no doubt it would be a greater achievement (winning a 154lbs title while weighing benath the welterweight limit doesn't cut it for me) not to take away from Pacquiaos achievements.
So the fact that Pacquiao is the first flyweight world champion in history to win the lightmiddleweight title means nothing to you?
Its the ***Light Middleweight Title. *** vacant title that was not fought for at the correct weight. And i think Hopkins achievements are better. I have said it over and over. Hopkins is the best fighter of our generation. He has been fighting top talent for over a decade. Did anyone mention he is 46 and fighting the best LHW of the world. Thats Robinesque. If Pac wants to be considered great like Hopkins lets see how well he does when his speed and reflexes are gone and he has to fight on limited stamina.
I'm trying to think if a win over a Daniel Santos leftover is better than a win over a Carl Froch leftover or not
