Thanks for the feedback folks.....I'd love to continue the analysis but my daughter is fed up with Elmo's world and wants the Barney DVD instead. I should be able to continue tomara.
I still say Pac will win by TKO. Cotto cuts easy ( barring any headbutts ). Of course, this is only my opinion. Overall, this will be a war and I'll be looking forward to this fight w/ much anticipation. :bbb
I'm aware of Pac's ring IQ and I'm sure he himself is a great judge of his limitations. What I have pointed out is the fact that Pac has the tendency to improvise when not needed, meaning taking unwanted risk because he has convinced himself that the opposition has succumbed to his attack. Pac is not a natural boxer he is a swarmer constantly on attack mode rarely will he step back and dissect the current atmosphere of the fight which in the long run will hurt him when facing a fighter that can adjust and weather his storm> Of course the question here is can Cotto weather the storm and capitalize on his mistakes.
No question.....I've got goose bumps already. These two gents will make the fight live up to the hype.
Its not easy when you have gorilla digits as fingers....I kept on pressing two different keys at the same time.
Facing fighters at higher weights made Pac more cautious throwing punches compared to his fights before diaz; he is now forced to be more defensive because he can't afford to get hit often. Defense is so important to him now that he is able to duck even when he punches. There was a round in the oscar fight where eventhough pac was obviously dominating was still very cautious. But you know what i think it would be better if cotto wins, Pac can leave the sport anytime now.
That was round 8 and I think it was more pity than caution. That was his defenseless idol sitting on the ropes like a *****. He sort of wanted him to make something out of it, but Oscar just sat there. He actually to me has greatly improved his D, but is still an offensive minded fighter. He jumped on both Oscar and Hatton early on. He didnt just wait there for an opening. He threw a flurry and waited for a reaction. Then when no reaction presented itself, he'd just go completely on the offensive. This showed in round 2 of the Hatton fight. He thought he can finish off Hatton and got too excited. Then towards the END of the round he stopped thinking KO and thought of precision instead. Cotto has far more power than Hatton and much better D and skill. If he lands Im not sure Pac can stand it. He doesnt seem to react to punches too well anymore.
I find most quick handed swarmer and boxer types pauses more than usual when facing cotto ala zab and mosley...if that trend repeats during the pac vs cotto it would only further convince me of my choice.
I hope cotto can do it in a classic that way pac and may can still get it on and cotto mosley 2 can happen
Great post man, I completely agree with you. I just feel like Cotto will be able to break Pac down. I also think Cotto can take Pacs best punches and keep on fighting as he did with Mosley.
Depending on the wear and tear of each fighter mentioned in your post I could envision the scenerio playing off before the end of 2010
