wow. id like to see you out-write peter fitzsimons..:yep and then there is a plethora of other aussie authors that wrote of darcy. you really are a ****en big mouthed windbag. so typical of some yanks. and here is a quote from the times, that may help you understand the politics of the time... Put Les Darcy in a uniform and the men of Australia will march to hell behind him. http://www.aussiereviews.com/article2986.html
Once again you misinterpret my words. Is American English so different from Australian? I said my book would be less biased. I have yet to read anything written on Darcy by an Australian after he died that was anything less a one sided telling.
A big mouth who has credible sources, rather than one who just relies on the info he has inherited and didn't dig for himself. Try doing your own research. Then maybe you can come here with an informed point of view. Until then your insults and claims just sound hollow. You cling to the wreckage of your shattered assertions and convictions like a survivor clinging to the floating debris of a sunken ship. Let it rest.
All sources have inherent bias whether intentional or not, author's will usually put a certain slant on the subject. Klompton's book will naturally be very pro-Greb, but it will also have a great deal of information. I'm not Klompton's biggest fan and at times he's made ridiculous posts on certain subjects, but ridiculing a man's work, something positive that he's doing, isn't too classy mate. In truth he's doing the boxing community a service in compiling all this information about Greb and he won't be making a load of money out of a book about a boxer few boxing fans are even familiar with. I'd encourage more fans to undertake projects like this, like you say certain boxers still have living witnesses to interview and don't have books about them. These men will be dying out and their knowledge gone forever
IIRC Klompton actually makes the case that one of the Gibbons did much better with Greb than 'The Fearless Harry Greb' suggests.
I have to! It's working title is 'The Boxers of Thailand', recently contacted Samarts gym in the hope of meeting up with him when I'm next over there. Hard to find source material, but have Thai friends who can hopefully give me a more accurate translation on what I do have. Have a lead as to what town Borkhorsor currently resides in. Might have to turn up with pictures and say 'know this man?' I know what town Choinoi lives in. There's a guy who is very well connected out there and who has interviewed a lot of Thai greats, but he's been unresponsive when I've tried to contact him about the project. We'll see how it goes, but really want to get some of these tales down before they're lost for ever.
Probably not, apart from what you probably already know. How about this one....after losing to Fenech it was reported here that he joined a monastery due to a truckload of Thais betting heavily on him beating Fenech and wanting to do him grevious bodily harm when he lost. Sounds a bit over the top to me so maybe you could ask him about it if you catch up with him p.s. he was a tremendous Muay Thai fighter :bbb
I'll definitly buy your book on Greb, you know your stuff on him and the era and you are opinionated. Just reading your posts I'd worry more about your prose, spelling and grammar than anything else, I'd hate it to detract from your work. 700 pages? for me no problem, better than 2 books, I think.
In my defense I dont really edit (or care) about my spelling, grammer, or prose when posting on a forum. Not saying I dont need an editor because I do but Im not THAT bad LOL.
