Many of us USA fans screamed ROBBERY ( Including myself )! After two months or so have past now I think differently about the factor. I am a huge Cunningham fan too. 1. We should be pleased that it wasn't Hernandez KO 1. First of all he got a slightly long count, But that isn't my concern, When USS tried to get up the first time he was off balance and his legs were gone, He fell back down! He fell down when he was trying to get up, If I was the referee I would have stopped it right there. So we are lucky, He got a long count and was aloud to move on. 2. The rest of the rounds up to 5 were close. I think Hernandez or Cunningham could have won. I thought the last 2-3 rounds before the stoppage went to USS, So the 58-55 Hernandez card worked for me. Same with the 57-56 Cunningham. They were close rounds. The first round was huge for Hernandez, And as I said It could have been KO 1 3. If the fight wasn't stop then, It would have been soon, It may have been early, But it would have been soon no matter what I think, It was a huge cut. Besides, It was really close at the stoppage, I doubt Hernandez would have taken this risk but this is the one part of this article that I could be wrong. No matter what I cannot wait for the rematch! :bbb
IDK Samurai.......I think Cunningham beat a full ten count, and besides, it's truly up to the ref's discretion to start the count and to rule the KD. Sometimes they have to look in the eyes of the fighter to know it was not a slip. I still think it was a robbery, esp since the ring doc who stopped it committed a crime b/c he admitted to the stoppage b/c he felt Hernandez was going to lose, but should have won.:-(
It was an easy way out of a fight, that's all there is to say about it, his team knew he wasn't going to win on points as USS was quickly catching up so they pulled off a cheap move.
It was an easy way out but I saw Cunningham was hurt in 1. Idk, We will see, I thought Cunningham had it by 1 at time of the " stoppage ".. It was slim though.
