A look back at Gamboa vs Salido

At the time, the victory did not seem that impressive. Gamboa was not able to blow Salido out of the water like previous comp. Salido proved to be a disciplined world class fighter that could compete with Gamboa on even terms at times. Scored a knockdown, although it did not hurt Gamboa, and boxed a good fight.

Now on to Gamboa. The fight did get dirty at times but for the most part Gamboa too was able to follow the gameplan throughout the fight. He boxed nicely out the outside in the first part of the fight and there were tough exchanges in close distance. But as the fight went on Gamboa's conditioning proved to be in top form and the gap began to widen between the two fighters. Gamboa was able to wear down the durable Salido and has him hurt in round 10, and down and almost out in the 12th and final round. Due to Gamboa's inexperience he stupidly hit Salido on the canvas and was rightfully deducted 2 points. If Gamboa would have been able to stay disciplined he would have gotten the TKO win which would have looked all the more impressive. Regardless, i think he won not a wide decision, but a clear and relativity comfortable win.

In conclusion, Salido remains the best name on Gamboa's resume, which also consist of other solid comp. Its a win that did not look as great as it should at the time. But giving a look back Gamboa earned his stripes in that fight. Salido is a fine fighter.

Nice post although common opponents dont normally mean **** Gamboa certainly dealt with Salido better than Juan Ma

Good post, I was pretty impressed with gamboa or maybe it was just me being biased because I love his fighting style. The cyclone of guantanamo suits him well.

salido is one of my favorites because of his fights with gamboa and juan ma. i never really paid attention to him previously. now, i'm a fan. gamboa is highly skilled...there's no denying that.

Close fight, Good win for Gamboa probably his best win ever and his most significant win.. with the PDL one being his next best win against good opponents. Solis was ****, so he looked good there for a reason.
