and not based on him finishing one brother inside half the rounds, and the other brother getting instantly kille din seconds by a retired guy who when prime couldn't get near a shot at lewis title.

yeh I can understand how you arrive at your conclusions by ignoring the facts completely.

    THAT uppercut was savage, mate.

Also, I'm not a fan of the "reason" that Lewis gave when it came to turning down the rematch ("My Mom said I should stop"). i know they were very very close, but that's weak.

yeh but you should be a fan of almost every HW champ in history retiring from title reigns before or at age 38.

therefore you should support his decision to retire as being perfectly in line with everyone else.

True, but HW's at a certain age don't have the same wear & tear on them that a lighter guy has.

Besides, to use your MOTHER as an excuse? Why not just say it how it is?

If you watch the last round Vitali was seriously hurt with a right to the side of the head. Vitali staggered into Lewis nearly falling on his face. A right uppercut nearly took Vitalis head off just before the bell. If anything it was Lewis surging to stop the challenger. If the bout were to continue it would have been over in the next round.

Lewis done a runner from both brothers after his boast. As for getting killed by a retired guy, i take it you mean Corrie Sanders?.. Well Sanders fought on several Lewis undercards, and was billed by Lewis promotional company (Panix Promotions) as a future opponent for Lewis. But like clockwork throughout Lewis career, he wanted nothing to do with any fighter who was on the up. Lewis got poleaxed by two very mediocre journeymen fighters who would rate as the worst champions in the history of the Heavyweight division. Imagine what Wladimir Klitschko would have done to him?... Vitali was many leagues below his brother in every aspect of the sport.

he retired at 38, in line with every HW champ in history at that age or before. Why do you have an issue with history and every HW champ in it? argue for them all staying on and keeping fighting first, see how far it gets you.

    GO ON. BEGIN.

START now with John L Sullivan, and argue against all of them bar one up to Lewis.

..and failed to get past world title qualifiers yes so never fougth for a world title ...

..until when sanders retired, old shot2shyte, the K bros picked him for their bum of the year club, and he decided not to take a dive.

sounds like honesty to me. Whats the problem wth that. Every HW champ in history probably had their family members tell them when to stop. Why is it an issue with JUST lewis?

Lewis was complacent and bought into his own hype. Once he beat Tyson he felt there was no one better than him and he could coast through the next few years on minimal effort. His boasting about the Klitschko was a result of this.

Lewis initially said he'd be interested in a rematch but changed his mind - just like Vitali changed his mind about fighting Byrd again despite saying he'd rematch him - doing so deprived boxing of a potential super fight and will always be a mark against him but if he didn't have it in him to train and prepare enough to be at his best then he made the right decision to walk away, because Vitali was not the kind of opponent he could beat with a half-assed effort.

Wlad at the time would have had a punchers chance of beating Lewis but it was more likely that Lewis would lay him out because he wasn't the finished article at that time was too easy to hit and panicked when things went off plan - as the fight against Sanders showed.

    ignoring the facts completely...........:hello:

In every round Klitschko threw more punches. In rounds 1-5 Vitali landed more power punches. Round 6 Lennox landed more power punches 10-8. (Hardly the sudden rise in power punches that Lennox fans have been claiming). As for jabs round 3 was even at 17 jabs landed apiece.

In the other 5 rounds Vitali landed more jabs. So...let's see, Klitschko threw more punches in every round (by far). In rounds 1,2, 4 and 5 Vitali landed more jabs and more power punches. There is no round that shows Lennox controlling in either punch volume or apreciable punches landed. The entire idea that Lennox was suddenly getting the upper hand comes from two punches landed right before the end or round 6.

Yet....it was Lennox literally collapsing to his stool right before the Doctor ended it. Just being real. Lennox is the champion on a bare technicality. He lost the fight.
