Someone will be upset in the next few months, though the odds don't entirely reflect it Benavidez-Dirrell: Anthony is a tough night for anyone. He has a lot more experience, is still in his physical prime, and is the current champ. Benavidez is hyped for good reason, but Dirrell would be by far his best scalp. 7-1 is great value as Dirrell could easily make this a long, ugly fight. Golovkin-Derevyanchenko: Golovkin is obviously past his prime despite beating Canelo. One thing Golovkin seems to struggle with is boxers with high volume who move in and out a lot, and that's exactly what he's facing. I can see Sergiy winning this on activity, he is a 4.5-1 dog. Spence-Porter: Again, Showtime Shawn is a tough night for everyone. He does a lot that can change the story of the fight (headbutts), and is an incessant pest. Errol is pretty slick on the inside so he more than likely picks him off and controls the tempo well enough, but 6.25-1 seems to far off for how much could happen here. Canelo-Kovalev: I don't need to explain this one. Kovalev is a 4-1 underdog in a fight most people are picking him to win. The fix is in? Joshua-Ruiz: Andy is a 3.3-1 underdog against a guy he comprehensively outboxed, knocked down 4 times, and made quit. Shocking odds.
Benavidez will smash dirrell, Porter isn’t on Spence’s level and GGG beats Derev easily for me. Can’t argue with the other 2 except Canelo having the judges and Kov needing a KO.
I agree that there will most likely be at least one upset there, possibly two. The odds you posted are a bit out though. Derev and Kova are ~7/2 and Ruiz 5/2 so not quite as big a dog, while Porter is 8/1 so a bigger dog than you make out.
No I don’t, but Kov is naturally 2 weight classes bigger than GGG so who says he will take all that punishment?
The Kovalev one is a really good bet to make, those are killer odds. He's got all the advantages on his side..size, reach, power, a really solid jab to keep distance...yes stamina isn't great and chin is suspect. But Canelo's stamina isn't exactly groundbreaking either, and with the shots coming at him from Kovalev..I wouldn't rule out a knockdown. Canelo will probably come in heavier, and he's going to pay the price for it. Canelo has never been a box and move type of fighter, and that means he's vulnerable to Kovalev's jab. And unlike GGG, Kovalev won't just stand in front of him and trade. I really think it'll be a fairly comfortable decision for Kovalev, with maybe a knockdown at some point to make matters worse for Canelo. He's made a big mistake cherrypicking a 175lber like he has.
So far we have: Benavidez looking limited and getting his azz outboxed by Dirrell until that nasty cut slowed Dirrell down. There's a chance that with no cut he could've kept that jab in David's face all night. Benavidez looked like he didn't know how to box in there. Porter showed that Spence is not on the level Spence thinks he is. Hell of a fight, very close. Could've gone to Porter if things were only a little different. Derev beat GGG but got robbed. So yeah 0/3 so far, but like I said, not bad picks.
