A Margarito Victory Will be Huge, Possibly an Upset, & Show Who's For Real at Welter.

Margarito is a formidable opponent for anyone at welterweight. Not only must one have the skills to deal with his relentless assault, but the stamina to utilize them.

In fact, one can assume by the way in which Margarito continually drives foward absorbing everything in his path, that every time a fighter takes a break, Margarito is still training.

Margarito is what he is. He is a beast at welterweight, a giant punching machine with an iron chin, and a huge heart.

    He is a monster.

Even Mosley's new trainer, Nazim Richardson admits to this.

"After this fight, don't declaw Margarito,'' Richardson says. " They say he's a monster, so let him be a monster after the fight also. A lot times what happens is before the fight you hear about the killer. Then after the fight, you hear excuses."

In addition, he says that Shane is no where near finished as a fighter.

"After he wins, lift Shane back to where he belongs. This fight puts him back, if not equal, very close to where he was when he beat Oscar De La Hoya."

These are strong words for a trainer accustomed to working with perhaps the best fighter of this generation in Bernard Hopkins, a true multi-dimensional fighter, and a genius in the ring.

Shane's former trainer, his father Jack Mosley, had this to say about the upcoming fight.

"As long as [Shane] has the energy, he's got the style to beat this guy easily. But he's got to have the energy."

While not making an excuse for why Shane lost the fight against Cotto, which in the eyes of many observers could have gone either way, Jack Mosley says that Shane had scar tissue removed from his nose that was blocking Shane from getting oxygen.

"He found this out after the Cotto fight and had the scar tissue removed. He's getting 100 per cent oxygen now. That's going to play into having a lot of energy."

So perhaps, it should be Shane who should be favored to beat Margarito, despite Margarito's ferocity and well earned reputation as a monster in welterweight division.

It is possible that most of what was said refering to Shane Mosley was just to hype the fight and make it look like an aging Mosley is still a fighter that deserves to be in the limelight, but considering the circumstances regarding Shane's lack of oxygen, his performances in the past, and the faces who attested that Shane will win the fight, it appears to be the truth and something that will set audiences up for a major upset.

Considering Manny Pacquiao, Vic Darchinyan, and Bernard Hopkins defied the odds and won in ways most observers thought not possible, it is not completely out of the question that Mosley will pull off this victory in stunning fashion.

On the other hand, if Margarito wins this fight, it will be a massive victory for him if what Jack Mosley and Nazim say about Shane is correct because the reality of the situation is that the fighter who originally beat De La Hoya would be favored over Margarito regardless of his reputation.

This is something that should be in the mindset of Saturday night's observers. If Margarito manages to beat Mosley, it will be the greatest victory of his career and a win that should solidify his standing as the welterweight king.

The next question is, where is Mayweather in all this?

Margo is the favorite in this fight, so I would not see him winning as an upset.

But I do believe Shane will win.

I think Shane will dominate him, but not score the KO.

If Margarito manages to win, I will be suprised.

This stuff about Shane not being a boxer is ridiculous. The guy has only been knocked down once in 292 fight, and a knockdown that stemmed from a headbutt.

To be able to have that kind of balance is AMAZING.

People here forget that boxing isn't just going backwards, it's coming fowards to. There is a science to that as well, and Shane is a true fighter.

He doesn't come to a fight to get by with a decision, he comes to win the FIGHT. And he has the tallent, the handspeed, the ability, and the finese to pull it off.

Here you got a guy with a great jab, that is capable of throwing blazing combinations, and people are counting him out like he can't even box because he has a tendency to come foward, mix it up, and occasionaly get hit.

What people need to realize is that while he gets hit at times, it's obviously not effecting his balance, so he's not being hit with devestating punches.

If that's not boxing, I don't know what is.

there is no upset either way in this fight; both are fairly evenly matched. Now if it was a prime Shane fighting in there, Margo winning would be a pretty big upset, but at this point it is about 60-40 to Margarito by my way of thinking and based on looking at recent performances. To me, that does not mean either man winning would be an upset.

Now if Shane KOs Margarito with 1 punch, no matter the round, THAT would be an upset. In fact, I'd even say that vice versa would be an upset also.

I think if Mosley wins he creates possibility of more big matchups. If Margarito wins Cotto is only realistic option. For Mosley there is Hatton, Pacquiao, Judah, Berto, and Mayweather?

I think Shane will have success against MArgarito. But as AM continues to press with volume and power eventually Sugar will hold for dear life.

I think even if Margarito wins he should still get some respect for this win IF it happens which I doubt it will. Mosleys 37 and yes not quick as fast or energetic as he once was but hes still one of the best fighters in the world and any victory over him means something.

Sugar Slave's power is WAYYY underrated. He almost had Oscar down in the 1st round of their rematch. He knocked out Mayorga with one shot. And the Cotto fight could have gon either way. I say he wins tonite based on his handspeed.

The headbutt knocked him sensless, dolt. After that, he was basically dizzy, his equilibrium was off, as was his defense, and he got nailed by a legitimate punch. Maybe you should quit complaining, and cursing to God about the size of your little pee pee, and spend more time learning about boxing.

He (blubber fist) hadn't even seen the Mosley vs. Forrest knockdown before earlier today where it was posted for him. Don't expect him to understand the circumstances.

So he did not excel against Cotto because of Scar tissue :think, what was the excuse for the 35.7 minutes of average performance in the Mayorga fight?
