One of my trainer recommends it to get used to the feeling, but i've never done it. And I don't have a soft body. So I cant really say either way if it works or not. I know sometimes I fart if i get hit in the stomach real good. lol. Its a great defensive tactic.
a thigh kick is a thigh kick, doesnt matter if its muay thai or kick boxing, that fight i put up was K1 rules. I understand that you are meant to block a kick with your shin but it is impossible to do so every time, so at some stage in a fight you will be kicked in the thighs. You will be able to take more shots with conditioing whether it is your abs, thighs or shins.
Rather than activating the neurons, you are damaging them. Receptors are damaged and wont recieve the proper signals to react and fire in response to the stimulie of Feel your early warning system. It also doesnt help the pscyhcodynamics of Do.
So what would you recommend Scrap for getting used to body shots? How about things like sparring drills where on person can only fire up top, and the other body shots? A person def. would be receiving them and will have some expectation but still have to try to defend. Seems to me it would work on several levels. I mean, overall for preparing our cores, we will be preparing our cores with exercise targetting those muscles, but there must be good drills as well.
well thats part of the fight game isnt it, you are going to get damaged, by the time a kick hits your legs its already to late to react anyway, so i would much prefer a tough conditioned thigh any day. And i guarantee you would still feel the shot land so you can respond with a counter, i think staying on your 2 feet is what keeps you in the fight. With out conditioning you may not be able to do that.
Sparringis a good way of learning your pain threshold. Staying there and waiting for pain isnt, and gives bad habits to response. Its like a mountain climber who has never taken a fall, telling him to jump of a rockface to get the feel of it, dont think so.
i found when i was doing lots of body sparring my body was much better conditioned to take hard body shots.
Its 100% mental, everything starts with thought even reflex action, there has to be a History for correct response to relate to it, all or nothing thats how the body works everything has its place. Organised by that thing above the kneck
