A message for Pacquiao fans, brought to you by Tim Bradley

People need to lighten up a little! Yes I was shocked at the judges decision. Yes, I thought -- like most who saw the fight -- that Manny clearly won. But that shouldn’t take away from Bradley’s accomplishments. Bradley brawled with one of the all time greats and stayed on his feet. Bradley took some hard shots and demonstrated that he had the heart of a warrior. Even if Bradley were to have officially lost, I would still say that he gave Manny a competitive fight. Bradley is disserving of respect, even if many have reason to disagree with the official decision in this fight.

 

Great fighters aren't judged solely on their biggest and best wins. It's about an entire career. When Sugar Ray Robinson beat Bobo Olson, was that a great win? No, it wasn't because Olson wasn't a very good fighter but it is a bout which is always listed when reviewing Robinson's great career. Ali beating Chuvalo or Williams weren't great wins, because neither of those two were anything special, but they are always listed when you read about Ali's record and they do add to his legacy and ATG standing.

Not every win can be brilliant. Beating a good, young fighter in Bradley may not be huge for Pacquiao but it's still a significant bout. When his career is over, people will talk about this fight. They'll mention Barrera, Cotto, Morales, Marquez etc., but Bradley will be another noteworthy opponent. Any win like that boosts a fighters legacy and standing.

Look at guys like Chavez Sr. or Lewis. The didn't beat many prime great fighters but they added lots of good, solid fighters to their record. On an individual basis, those wins aren't huge but over a career, they add legacy.

Some guy once posted a drawing of Bradley in a thread he started. It's a half assed cartoon sketch but it captured Timmy's look perfectly. That artwork should be a running meme on ESB. The picture in this thread is real comical as well but that drawing...something about special about it. Probably because it looks a lot like the drawing of the famous troll face.
