There's more to it than that. The IBF had already warned him not to fight Vanes and were ready to strip him if the fight went ahead.

Tom Loffler pleaded with them to grant Golovkin an exception.

IBF grants Golovkin exception to fight Martirosyan

Once Alvarez, the WBC's mandatory challenger, was out of the fight on May 5, Derevyanchenko's team pressed for him to get his mandatory shot next, but Golovkin's side showed no interest in trying to make the fight

So the IBF could have stripped Golovkin for taking part in a fight against Martirosyan that it refused to sanction. But Golovkin promoter Tom Loeffler had the right to seek an exception and on April 20 he paid a $20,000 fee to the IBF for it to consider his request so GGG could face Martirosyan on May 5 without losing his belt.

We all know there as no way GGG was going to fight Sergiy in between Vanes and Canelo. He went through with that fight fully knowing he would be stripped.
Once the Vanes fight was finished he was stripped for refusing to honor the prior agreements he made to fight Sergiy. In other words - stripped for not facing Sergiy. . In other words - a duck!

You are a liar. You lied about Sergiy not wanting the fight and lied about HBO claiming the fight was only worth $1M.

Sergiy Derevyanchenko also wants to step in for Alvarez, however, and the unbeaten Ukrainian is the mandatory challenger for Golovkin’s IBF middleweight title. Lou DiBella, Derevyanchenko’s promoter, has petitioned the IBF to either force Golovkin to defend its title against Derevyanchenko (12-0, 10 KOs) on May 5 or strip the Kazakh knockout artist of that title.

It is the IBF’s turn in its rotation with the WBA and WBC for Golovkin to make a mandatory defense (the IBO doesn’t order mandatory defenses). Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) hasn’t made a mandatory defense of his IBF belt since knocking out Dominic Wade in the second round of their April 2016 bout in Inglewood, California.

Canelo is the face of a country and made into the face of DAZN,, As you would see from any DAZN ad!! Again you ignored the fact of the deal being up front for set amount of money with many sites calling it the richest deal in sports history!

It's hard to prove Derevy "not wanting to fight" No sane promoter is going to come out and say " We don;t want the fight just yet, we'll wait a couple weeks and then push for the fight" Derevy and Andrade were both pushing for the fight until they realized they weren't going to get paid much for a short notice fight and then both of their social media' accounts went dead silent. I don't know why anyone would assume Derevy actually wanted the fight on short notice. They were promoting themselves the entire time. And why do think I said Derevy didn't want the fight? Are you completely misunderstanding what I;m saying here? I'm saying Derevy didn't want the fight on May 5th because he would not have been paid nearly as much as you seem to think he would have. Then you cheekily add in the fight purse which you haven't gave any sources of. What was HBO going to pay for GGG vs Derevy on May 5th? Where are the sources?

So boxing is no longer worth watching I take it. All boxers are investments to promoters whether it’s upfront or building PPV fighters. Boxing will only ever be streamed in 10 years time. And this is how the contracts will work

Hey , you don't cut Charlo any slack for coming up short against Korobov , in a fight he took on one weeks notice. But you defend Golovkin not refusing to face Dervy with 4 weeks notice. At east Charlo took the fight , unlike Golovkin.
These fanatical double standards is why the GGG fanbase is mostly made of clowns.
Btw , Canleo is no idol of mine. I have no idols in boxing , its just a sport. :cool1:

Canelo at this point is no longer worth watching to me not boxing! As we saw Hurd and Williams came to fight,, Most of the bouts on DAZN are great,, no fighter with DAZN has as much invested in them as Canelo at the moment, If you fail to see how a 365 million dollar investment could be protected let that be on you! I will enjoy watching real fights not bouts where the outcome is already determined!

ROFLMAO Charlo is supposedly a world champion the next great thing lol Korobov had trained for an 8 round undercard fight. He gets the chance to fight for a title so he jumps at it. He legitimately beat Charlo but got short changed
He got screwed again last week
