A moment to appreciate Bernard Hopkins record

the majority of boxers haven't made a name for themselves before getting a title, what is your point?

 

You claimed most weren't **** post Hopkins I'm just pointing out the majority was not prior either.

 

Hopkins wasn't near the fighter in his physical prime that he was after it, he had 2 loses, a draw, & a no contest in his prime years. The first loss to fighter no one's heard of, the second to a phenom and ATG. The draw to a decent but B level fighter, the same with the no contest. Bernard was 36 a few months shy of his 37th birthday when he beat his first elite opponent and his legend grew from there.

I'm a huge Hopkins fan and the same is true of him as well, he wasn't the man at Middleweight until 2001 when he stopped Trinidad. He defended a Middleweight Title 12 times with 1 no contest before winning the Middleweight Title against Trinidad in 2001 in Don King's MW tournament. During the tournament and leading up to it Trinidad who just entered the division was considered the #1 MW and the favorite to win it. Hopkins was considered by many the underdog, I know I bet $1,000 at 4-1 on Hopkins to win. The point is, this fight not only made Hopkins the man, but started his legacy you're mentioning today.

 

Johnson, Joppy & Brown were never elite. Either that or elite doesn't mean what it use too.

 

Robbed? It was a close fight in which Hopkins was dropped twice a draw was justifiable.

 

I don't know if Hagler stops him as Golovkin's chin is on par with his own, but he definitely whips his ass 10-2. WAR Hagler! Damn, I want to see this fight now!

That is false. Post Jones fight, Hopkins was fighting ranked opponents, with good records. Not saying it was murderers row or anything, but some people like you, let your hate for the boxer cloud your recollection of things.

Putting politics and religion aside, bhop was Hands down the most complete and accomplished fighter of my day. Did things the right way. Was young and aggressive. Realized he needed longevity in the sport if he was gonna make money. Started boxing and being cute. Inside clinch game was on point. Moved up in weight. Fought till he was 50.
Bhops picture should be next to the very definition of boxing.
Bhop did it all.

 

He had a great career, but he didn't always do things the right way. All of the play acting, fouling and whining left a bad taste.
