Yes actually, not a question you would ask if you had seen all three fights.
Hopkins jumped out of the ring the first time because he is a hustler who tries to mess with his opponents head. Basically a troll.
He has a long standing track record of doing this kind of **** in various fights, including ones where he is dominating like the RJJ rematch.


The second and third fight where far from even beginning to be competitive. Hopkins beat him up badly, way he put him down the third time withan overhand right is on most of his highlight reels

 

My main point is would Golovkin need to fight Allen thrice to prove dominance?

Also you'd never see Golovkin dropped twice by a Mercado type fighter.

 

1. My bad, I meant Segundo Mercado.
2. Allen did not get dominated the 1st fight. He fought fire with fire, when Hopkins tried being a bully, and Hopkins ended up with a broken ankle.
3. The first Echols fight was closer than the scorecards indicate. I’m speaking about the same Echols who previously got schooled by Brian Barbosa, before he snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, with a one punch KO.

I think Hopkins beats Canelo, but I don’t think he dominates him. Canelo’s offense is more well rounded than say Trinidad, who Hopkins completely diffused by taking away his lethal left hook.

I think GGG loses to Hopkins convincingly, particularly if he can’t get away from the Alien’s “3rd weapon,” his head. I’m also not sure he’s the type to retaliate when Hopkins hits him low, which he will surely do.

Hopkins is an ATG who could’ve fought in any era. However, he is not and never was unbeatable. His two fight series with Jermain Taylor also gives me pause to say he would dominate Canelo and/or GGG. Beat them, yes. Dominate them, not so much.

 

He didn't need to fight him 3x for dominance. The bird time was because Allen became mandatory again and Hopkins didn't want to dump a belt before becoming undisputed when he took Oscars belt in his next fight after the 3rd Allen fight.


Nobody was wondering if Allen was better than Hopkins, portraying it like that is just dishonest(I know you just picked the phrase "prove his dominance" up from another idiot here so it's fine) Hopkins just didn't want to give up a bargaining chip vs DLH by refusing to fight allen anderen being forced to vacate one of his 3 belts, when his next fight was about to make him undisputed

 

The first fight iirc Allen more than held his own, Hopkins ruled a bland mediocre division just as Golovkin has been accused of doing only difference Golovkin destroys sub par opposition and Hopkins went the distance and had to rematch journeyman Sercado to claim the belt.

Plus Hopkins was drugs cheat.

He stopped undefeated Glen Johnson and didn't lose a round.
He destroyed John David Jackson
He dominated 3 time champ Joppy
He stopped Trinidad.
He stopped DLH.

Some of them Smaller men? Yeah but nobody complains about Hagler best wins being welterweights and a lightweight.
